Publisher's Summary

In his most powerful book since What's So Amazing About Grace? and The Jesus I Never Knew, Philip Yancey probes the most fundamental, challenging, perplexing, and deeply rewarding aspect of our relationship with God: What is prayer? How does it work? And, more importantly, does it work?

Written by one of the most significant Christian thinkers of our generation, Prayer: Does It Make Any Difference? explores the questions surrounding prayer that many of us wonder about but few of us know how to express. Above all, this book teaches us how to pray to a God who sees what lies ahead of us, knows what lies within us, and who invites us into an eternal partnership through prayer.

Excellent

This is the best book on the subject of prayer that I have ever read. I have listened to it several times, and each time I find something new. It stresses the concept of prayer as being time spent with God, and that it is more of a relationship than a one sided dialogue. I would highly recommend this book.

Prayer - a profound open discussion

I am always reluctant reading books on prayer, as I usually expect pat answers and formulas on how to do it "right." Being a Christian for many years, and praying for just as many, I've never felt that I really understand prayer.

Yancy, in this philosophical, apologetic, somewhat theological, and honest work, explains the ins and outs of prayer in a way that has profoundly impacted my life. To be sure, he doesn't have all the answers (he doesn't attempt to). He asks the hard questions about prayer that we all have stirring deep inside us, and gently points us to Christ as he helps us understand the real reason we pray.

This is a must read for anyone.

Enjoy and be blessed!

Paryer is something we all need to understand.

Where does Prayer rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Yancey is a very good writer and he knows his subject. Anyone that prays to God needs to read this book.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Talking to God.

Many Words

This audiobook had many words. The narration is quick, yet empty of substance. I could not force myself to claim an interest to this one.

thoughtful

It is a very thoughtful book, that looks at the subject of prayer - something deeply intimate and personal - from a variety of points from "outside" a person. It helps one re-think the whole experience, find deeper motivation and new ways of talking with God.
