Publisher's summary

Imagine a united consciousness, an awareness of which all of our minds are a part - and a potential way out of the division, greed, and destruction that threaten to engulf our world. In the twentieth century, we were introduced to several subdivisions of the mind: the conscious, unconscious, subconscious, preconscious, and so on. But what we didn't know was that there was another level of consciousness, an all-encompassing, infinite dimension of shared intelligence: the One Mind.

This universal consciousness connects all of us through space and time. Even now, as you read these words, you are participating in the One Mind. Emerging studies have shown that the One Mind isn't just an idea; it's a reality. In this audiobook, Larry Dossey shares compelling research that supports the One Mind concept. These cases include experiences of:

  • shared thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations with a distant individual;
  • communication between humans and sentient nonhumans, such as pets;
  • large groups of animals - flocks, schools, herds - behaving in highly coordinated ways;
  • acquisition of previously unknown knowledge from a person who has died;
  • hidden or lost objects found through mental means alone; and
  • direct contact with a transcendent domain through near-death experiences.

Through engaging stories, fascinating case studies, and brilliant insights from great thinkers throughout history, One Mind explores the outer reaches of human consciousness. In it you will discover a new way to interpret the great mysteries of our experience and learn how to develop the empathy necessary to engender more love, peace, and collective awareness. The result is a rich new understanding of what it means to be human and a renewed hope that we can successfully confront the challenges we face at this crossroads in human history.

With One Mind, Dossey shows that we are not alone, that we are all one.

Wrong format

This is an interesting and well researched book, but there is no bibliography provided. I recommend buying this book in non audio form to have access to the resources. I requested a bibliography from the author but did not receive a response. This book touches on the topic very briefly so more reading on the various citations is necessary if one is at all interested in exploring this topic in more depth.

thought provoking

interesting, but what I noticed most, is it improved my relationships with others. Treat people better, and in turn, get treated better.

Thoughtful, comprehensive perspective

A wonderful comprehensive perspective on how what appears obvious is ignored if not consistent with societal "norms". Compelling examples of connections between us, appealing to one's scientific and spiritual point of view. Persuasive vignettes and theories, making even dogmatic individuals with at least a sprinkling of curiosity think twice about what this all means.

One of the best

I’ve been on a spiritualist journey the last few years, and I have to say this is one of the great books you must have!

Very thought provoking!

Dr. Dossey makes very compelling argument about the inter-connectedness of all things. Many documented examples of "unexplained" communication between beings, both human and non. I listened to this book on audible, and I must say I prefer to listen to novels versus fact recitation, but I was able to do other things while listening. Listening to the reading of facts and anecdotes can be dry, but the subject matter was fascinating.

One Mind should be the start of a new awakening!

I have been a huge fan of Larry Dossey for several years now. This book is definitely my favorite one so far. With elegant simplicity and spiritual depth, One Mind illuminates a divine truth. Everything is divinely connected to everything else. This book left me feeling optimistic and excited about the future because I believe the One Mind that he wrote about is The Source of all things and I am intimately connected to that Source. I love this book and its message!

a Good way to enjoy time

I listen to audible books so I use my time as I am walking through life. To have the wisdom of great teachers being expressed instead of my own mindless chatter is rewarding . So at the end of my day I have great thoughts to share or
to reflect on. Thank you Larry and Audible for enriching my life.

A Concise and Cursory One Mind Education

This book was very informative for those seeking to know from a scientific view what the One Mind is. It allows the reader to know the cultural, mystic, academic and scientific history of the cosmic mind/ one mind/ Akashic field.

I was hoping that it would go into practices of the One Mind, or at least outline the practices used by those discussed.

Overall a great book, would and have recommended it to friends and family.

Simply would never end

Would you try another book from Larry Dossey and/or Tom Weiner?

No way

What could Larry Dossey have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

More depth and less over-the-top diversity

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Tom Weiner?

He was okay.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment in how long it could go without digging as deeply as it needed to

Interesting book, but not my cup o'tea.

The idea is compelling, but I, as scientifically and materially oriented person, find it hard to digest. to be fair, I have some similar suspicions about the nature of reality, but they are very tentative steps of a newborn. Perhaps I'll grow someday enough for this book.
