This second edition of the beloved collection Oak Wise: Poetry Exploring an Ecological Faith features previously unpublished verse, a new ending note that reflects on the personal significance of the title for the author, and finally, a new foreword penned by Emmy winning Irish filmmaker, Alan Cooke.
Oak Wise is a collection of Celtic-themed narrative poetry exploring the old wisdom of the Druidic and Shamanic traditions. This collection is approachable to the curious seeker just beginning their exploration of ecological spirituality; while at the same time remains insightful to long-time path-walkers.
In Oak Wise Browning descends with the reader into an intimate account of one seeker reflecting on the biological mother, the earth, while communing with the ancestral consciousness to which we each are connected. This collection brilliantly reintroduces the ecological sensitivities of the old earth-based faiths; highlighting their relevance in this current age of environmental crisis.
Would you listen to Oak Wise again? Why?
Yes. I plan to listen to Oak Wise again and again, to really absorb the parts I heard, to hear the parts I missed, to review in light of changing perspective.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I did listen in all one sitting, but I thought in future I would go back and listen to one section at a time and absorb.
Any additional comments?
I felt like the author was speaking for me, like she was articulating all the experiences of my own life, like she had gone into my own heart and put my own understandings into words. To me that speaks of truth.

During the last ten years I have been listening to hundreds of audio books. I always have an audio book in my car (so now I really like heavy traffic...) I don't usually listen to poems but my wife downloaded Oak Wise on my phone and I gave it a try...Wow, what a treat! From the first words, Browning got right to my core, touching issues that are at the same time so deeply personal and yet are so global to being Human. I think anyone who questions and explores their own spirituality will enjoy Oak Wise. The reader, Mary Sarah Agliotta was simply wonderful! Often time, I would take a good, even great book by a great writer, and be dissapointed by the reading. I know how important the reader performance is, and Ms. Agliotta simply delivers! With a wonderful voice she manages to steer thruough the various peaks and valleys and bring the many sensations to the heart of thelistener. I would love to listen to her read in other categories, such as suspense. Many thanks for a great listen.David
