Publisher's Summary

Let the Spirit live inside you!

Are you hungry for an encounter with Jesus? Do you want to make an impact on the world? In this power-packed book, Bill Johnson discusses how you can be a person who hosts the Presence of God. Though all believers obviously have the Spirit of God within them, there is more that enables you to be so full that you overflow his Spirit into your world. Take a journey and meet many great prophets and kings from the Old Testament who were known as people of the Presence - people who, in Johnson's words, "God wanted to be with". In this succinct and powerful book, Johnson encourages you toward a pursuit of the Presence of God above all else. In this book, you will discover:

  • How to pay attention to the Holy Spirit and respond to him.
  • How the Holy Spirit manifests himself.
  • Biblical figures who were hungry for more of God's Spirit and learned to host him.
  • Stories of Presence-filled revivalists and personal encounters with the Presence!

Bill Johnson writes: "We are enabled to partner with the Kingdom of Heaven and see it released here on earth! The Presence of God within us will bring reformation to the world around us - encountering a loving God!" Host more of him today!

Amazing Book, but don't like the narrative

What did you love best about Hosting the Presence?

The topic, the simple but deep revelation of Bill.

What didn’t you like about Mike Norgaard’s performance?

English is my second language and for some reason, I can't retain due to the tone of his voice.

Amazing... but what is up with the narrator?

The book is amazing. I’d love to get a hard copy so I can really meditate on it as it’s so profound. But I am SO CONFUSED as to how someone can mispronounce so many common words! And mispronounce the same word in multiple ways? Saying ‘extravagant’ as literally ‘extra- vagant’, and ‘abode’ as ‘adobe’ were a couple of the standouts, but also he seemed to not be familiar with the Biblical books either (what is Ephesius? You mean Ephesians?) Anyway, awesome content but distracting narrator. At least he has a nice voice.

Sad narration

Was so looking forward to this book, because I love everything I've heard from Bill Johnson
The narrator however, spoiled the experience for me . He has a nice quality to his voice, but his pronunciation of such well known words and names as Elijah and Elisha were really distracting to me. I often had to try to figure out what he was talking about. Scripture texts were ofter very confusing . I'm usually not this critical, but this man's foul ups really detracts from what I'm sure is an otherwise wonderful book. I give it all the stars, but that is for the author only.

Overall good

Narrator has good voice and reading style but many of the Bible scripture references and Biblical character names were grossly mis pronounced. Minor detail to some, major distraction for others. But, over all the work is good. The content of the book is outstanding!

Great book, horrible performance

Great book, awful performance. Mispronounced Saul as Sal, Ephesians is like Ficians, 2 Samuels instead of 2 Samuel (really?), etc. This really distracted me, it sounded really rushed and I was unable to understand the flow of the book, it's all mushed together.

Full of Mispronunciations

What disappointed you about Hosting the Presence?

The book did not have a lot of content to it, it seemed to just restate the same message in several different ways. The message was also shallow and not very well established. A lot of proof-texting without really backing up the author's claim.

What was most disappointing about Bill Johnson’s story?

Being a non-fiction book there was not a story to speak of.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narration was not very good, the narrator keep mispronouncing words. Several times he referred to the Book of Revelation as Revelations. There were other things as well but that one stuck out because it happened several times.

What character would you cut from Hosting the Presence?

N/A

Any additional comments?

I would not really suggest this book.

life changing

as ever Bill shares how he hosts God's presence and makes it available to every believer in Jesus. Happy to report no theological terminology or complex concepts. Just a simple approach to the gospel and how anyone can be God's dwelling place. To God be the glory

This book speaks to the heart of believers.

The narrow road is hard for all of us. This book really helped me think through the many obstacles and traps we face, but most of all it directs our focus back to Jesus.

A modern classic

I'd recommend this to anybody with (or without) a passion to encounter and facilitate the presence of God in their life. We aren't just getting half a dozen hours of inspirational audio here - we are getting the recorded culmination of the life of a man who has truly, and successfully, sought the presence of the God of Heaven.
