Editorial Reviews

Hosea must accept the terrible job God assigns him: marry Gomer, who will constantly cheat on him, and forgive her each time. Hosea's fate dramatizes God's relationship with the unfaithful Israel. Employing some of the Bible's most intense language, this text deeply examines sin, judgment, and forgiving love. Biblical scholar Dr. Bill Creasy balances intellect and humor in his lecture. He will certainly have listeners thinking hard but also laughing out loud as they follow this dramatic Old Testament story. Because it is a live talk, the sound quality sometimes suffers, but Dr. Creasy's strong voice overcomes. As a natural public speaker, he makes learning about the Bible a joy.

Publisher's Summary

Both Isaiah and Hosea are writing at the same time, during the reigns of kings Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, 740-686 B.C. In Isaiah 1-35, Isaiah hauls Israel into court, charging her with unfaithfulness, calling out witnesses, and finding her guilty. The theme of these chapters is judgment. In Hosea, God says: "You know what I think; now I want you to know how I feel.” To tell us, God selects Hosea to deliver the message. To ensure that he does so vividly, he commands Hosea to marry the notorious whore, Gomer, who will be unfaithful to him over and over again. And each time, God tells Hosea to take her back.

Join Logos Bible Study’s Dr. Bill Creasy as he follows Hosea through the incredibly painful episodes of his life, as he delivers God’s message.

Audio quality is poor

Too much of an echo throughout the whole program. Otherwise it was the usual excellent review.

Good but sound issues

The story and delivery is excellent, as usual, but the sound is as if from a long way off. Having said that, you can hear every word.
