Can't wait for Heaven

As an evangelical Christian for over 40 years, I am embarrased to say that my understanding of Heaven was limited and dare I say, somewhat boring. This book "Heaven" has shaken all of my pre-conceived notions out of my system. I loved this book! Biblically sound and exciting with new ideas of what Heaven will be like. A must read for anyone wondering about, or even dreading Heaven.

Set your eyes on things above...

More than any other book, this book has made me look forward to heaven. We often think, and hear, that the Bible has little to say about heaven. We have notions that in heaven that we won't remember anything from our current life, won't have bodies, will do nothing but sing, won't know who we are or who we were, etc. After reading this book, I realize how unimportant this short life that we are now experiencing is (except for letting God use it), and how the unfairness, and the disappointments of earth will be gone and healed forever. I could go on, but you really need to read the book. If we are planning on spending eternity somewher, it sure makes sense to learn about it.

Insightful

This book contains many chapters and many references. It definitely challenged my concept of Heaven and provided a new perspective. It is supported with many references, which are hard to remember in audio format. The book seemed to repeat some of the same information toward the end. Overall, I'm glad I bought it though.

What a wonderful surprise!

I am so leary of reading "mans" perspective of heaven. Having said that, this is not a man's perspective on heaven, but a collection of scriptures answering the questions believers and unbelievers have about eternal life. Even as a Bible student, I had not knitted all of these scriptures together like Mr. Alcorn has done for his audience. "Heaven" by Randy Alcorn is nothing less than a book of hope and great anticipation those in Christ! Highly recommended.

Very encouraging

For all the talk about Heaven being the eternal home of believers in Christ, very little is talked about. Randy Alcorn's HEAVEN spends several chapters building a Theological Doctrine of Heaven, and then the fun part comes when he begins to share the implications of that theology. Very encouraging and certainly something to look forward to, rather than dread! Highly recommended reading.

Incredible. Wish I had grown up thinking this way

Any additional comments?

Open your mind....seriously! This book completely changed the way I look at death, resurrection, heaven and hell. Sadly most of our "knowledge" of heaven is either "fantasy" or cliches made to comfort the grieving. As someone who has recently experienced the sudden passing of my husband, I can truly say that this book will bring peace to those in similar situations, Not only that, but anyone wishing to study the biblical facts of heaven that stretch beyond the bright light at the end of the tunnel, get ready for an education. I love the author's pleasant voice and delivery of facts that could be tedious or boring with other readers. I also got the whispersync kindle for this so I can do some studying and underlining. It will even change your study of scripture in general. Highly recommended!

This book has inspired me to live now for eternity

Where does Heaven rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is by far the best audiobook I have listened to; Randy Alcorn has put a lifetime of living with an eternal perspective in this. He has also done his homework and arranged the book in chapters that allow you to go back over topics.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Heaven?

the treatise on how we can begin to imagine heaven based on the clues God has given us. this makes Heaven more tangible, more real, and therefore something to look forward to much more eagerly, as my home - not at all in an escapist mindset, but with a profound sense that today really matters for eternity, and I am on my journey toward my home.

Which scene was your favorite?

the Narnia references

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes

Any additional comments?

Everyone should read this, regardless of where they are in their journey through life. The devil is a liar from the beginning and has succeeded in deceiving millions about God, our origins, our purpose for living, our morals, and our destiny. This book helps dispell many myths and distortions that keep people from desiring what they were made for.

Heavenly

A lot of research presented in an 'easy-to-listen' manner. Voice of narrator very soothing; not annoying. Limited music and NO dramatization (which I like). I have a much better understanding of what Heaven will be like. Good for a bed time reading.
