Publisher's summary

How should Christians live their faith in the public arena?

Twenty years ago, the first edition of Chuck Colson's Kingdoms in Conflict became a best seller, a must-read for people interested in politics and the relationship between church and state. Now, with a passion for truth and moved by the urgency of the times we live in, Colson has written God and Government, re-voicing his powerful and enduring message for our post-9/11 world.

In an era when Christianity is being attacked from every side - books being written charging Christians with being theocrats and trying to impose their views on an unwilling culture - what is the message of the Christian church? What does the Bible say, and what do we learn from history about the proper relationship between faith and culture? Appealing to scripture, reason, and history, this audiobook tackles society's most pressing and divisive issues. New stories and examples reflect the realities of today, from the clash with radical Islam to the deep division between "reds" and "blues".

In an era of angry finger-pointing, Colson furnishes a unique insider's perspective that can't be pigeonholed as either "religious right" or "religious left". Whatever your political or religious stance, this audiobook will give you a different understanding of Christianity. If you're a Christian, it will help you to both examine and defend your faith. If you've been critical of the new religious right, you'll be shocked at what you learn. Probing both secular and religious values, God and Government critiques each fairly, sides with neither, and offers a hopeful, fair-minded perspective that is sorely needed in today's hyper-charged atmosphere.

Classic Colson

He hits a home run as he outlines the only stratagem that will work to turn around any worldly system. The Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Chuck Colson is greatly missed!

Must read regardless of your faith or lack of it!

Educated commentary with compelling arguments from a man who's looked at power from both sides. A great read in a both entertaining and informative narration.

Every Christian Should Read This Book

With the most controversy all presidential cycle that we've seen in our lifetimes, this is a book that every Christian needs to read to be able to make an informed decision and about who to vote for and how to participate in the process in the future. He doesn't tell us how to vote. He gives us a great history lesson that allows us to see mistakes being repeated that we could avoid if we got more involved in the process and had a clear idea of what our boundaries were as believers in with the boundaries of government should be.

A Critically Import Read for a Time Such as This

Regardless of your political affiliation, this is a must read for our times. Chuck Colson takes us through the history of his service in the Nixon era, his incarceration and redemption to his spiritual calling into prison ministry. His journey peels back the layers of power hungry governering leaders to expose the strategies to use or downplay Christian beliefs for ill-begotten objectives, to what history tells us in the end. Readers should exam their hearts and minds for the reasons why we need to have separation of church and state in our democracy; most importantly, why God (The Kingdom) should be first in your lives, not your government or political ideologies.

tedious and predictable from Christian orthodoxy.

was a struggle to finish due to the author's Christian political leanings. Was looking for an objective view, this is not it.
