Publisher's summary

Pope Benedict XVI is widely considered to be the greatest theologian and Catholic thinker of our time. In this book, author James Day unpacks the voluminous teachings of Pope Benedict and presents his remedies for the many ills afflicting the Church and our culture, including individualism, materialism, secularism, and godlessness.

At a time when the many "isms" of our day are pulling people away from the Faith, Father Benedict presents a hope-filled future, but only if we are to follow the guidance of Pope Benedict and the path he presents to us in every aspect of life: the formation of the Christian faith, in loving others, in personal vocation, in education, and in how we see the natural world.

Pope Benedict XVI offers our generation one of the clearest understandings of our world today, tirelessly championing the New Evangelization and a sacramental return to Christ and his Church. Father Benedict offers a compelling case for the Christian way, guiding us through the thoughts and writings of the Bavarian priest who became the Holy Father, and who now simply wishes to be called "Father Benedict".

The Worst Narration I Have Ever Heard

What would have made Father Benedict better?

Being able to understand more than 50% of the spoken text.

I have the greatest regard for Pope Benedict, and I was looking forward to gaining new insights into his work and thought. I will never know if there are any in this book, because I gave up trying to understand the author/narrator halfway through.

Has Father Benedict turned you off from other books in this genre?

Not at all. I have ready many books by and about Pope Benedict; I consider him one of the greatest lights of our age.

What didn’t you like about James F. Day’s performance?

The narrator, who is also the author, is practically unintelligible. The whole text is swallowed up in a mumbled, garbled, low bass voice. Obviously the author did not listen to his own recording or have it critiqued by others.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The book seemed to have potential; I will never know if it delivered on it.

Any additional comments?

Potential readers should preview the book in printed or electronic format. Do not purchase the Audible version.
