Publisher's summary

If God is in control of everything, does that mean the Christian can sit back and not bother to evangelize? Or does active evangelism simply imply that God is not sovereign at all? J.I. Packer shows in this classic study how false both these attitudes are. In a careful review of the biblical evidence, he shows how a right understanding of God's sovereignty is not so much a barrier to evangelism as an incentive and powerful support for it.

Great book!

Very encouraging for evangelism. And I love the clarification of the relationship between sovereignty and responsibility.

Most excellent!

I was very impressed with how plainly written, yet exceedingly rich this book was. I would highly recommend it to anybody confused about the necessity of evangelism while also maintaining that God is sovereign over His creation.

Concise and Insightful

J. I. Packer's "Evangelism and the Sovereignty of God" is a concise yet invaluable exploration of the dynamic between God's sovereignty and human responsibility in evangelism. Providing both thought-provoking insights and practical applications, this book is an excellent resource for those seeking a nuanced understanding of how divine sovereignty and human responsibility intersect in the pivotal task of evangelism.

How to reconcile both truths? Must read/listen

Excellent work by J.I. Packer. Explores the appearance of a contradiction between Gods sovereignty and man’s responsibility to evangelize.

It’s a good read!

This book offers valuable insights and is undeniably worth the read. Nonetheless, I observed some inconsistencies in the author's guidance. On one hand, he emphasizes the importance of establishing a friendship before evangelizing, while on the other, he champions forthright boldness. Despite these contradictions, the book remains commendable. For those seeking further enlightenment, I highly recommend John MacArthur's 'Ashamed of the Gospel'. My interest in this book was piqued due to MacArthur's endorsement. It's essential to note that universal agreement on every topic is rare, and differing opinions are both natural and acceptable. Blessings to all

Excellent!

Very well written. It brought together the two sides of evangelism, God’s sovereign action in changing and saving them and our personal responsibility for sharing the gospel. It reconciles the doctrine of election by God with my responsibility to share the Gospel with others.

Easy listening

Easy to listen to and follow along. I think the author sounds a lot like Jack Benny... lol.
