Publisher's Summary

John Piper writes, "I will tell you what a tragedy is. I will show you how to waste your life. Consider this story from the February 1998 Reader's Digest: A couple 'took early retirement from their jobs in the Northeast five years ago when he was 59 and she was 51. Now they live in Punta Gorda, Florida, where they cruise on their 30-foot trawler, play softball and collect shells. . . .' Picture them before Christ at the great day of judgment: 'Look, Lord. See my shells.' That is a tragedy.

"God created us to live with a single passion: to joyfully display his supreme excellence in all the spheres of life. The wasted life is the life without this passion. God calls us to pray and think and dream and plan and work not to be made much of, but to make much of him in every part of our lives."

This work is a passionate call for this generation to make their lives count for eternity. John Piper acknowledges that the risks for those who seek to accomplish something in life - risks in relationships for the sake of righteousness and authenticity, risks with money for the cause of the Gospel, and risks in witnessing to the truth and beauty of Christ. Readers will find their passion for the cross of Christ enlarged as a result of listening to this title.

Inspiring listen

A truly inspiring book. Helped me to focus on the fact that life is all about preparing for eternity, and that true purpose and meaning in this life can only come from that preparation.

For any serious Christian who really wants to focus their life on serving Jesus.

Encouraging and Convicting!

I am thankful for this book, I am tired of wasting much of the life God has given me in Christ. I have been challenged to seriously consider my ways as a steward of the gospel and disciple of Christ. I have seen through this work places in my thinking and life where I have been influenced by the world concerning money family and work. I resolve therefore, God please help me to not waste my life! great listen and spiritually challenging

Would you consider the audio edition of Don't Waste Your Life to be better than the print version?

not sure

What does Lloyd James bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I have a visual handicap and find it difficult to read so listening to books is easier

Challenging (and very well read)

A bit theoretical at first, but that changed later in the book. This book really made me think and evaluate. Highly recommended. The narrator did a great job.

Though dated- the book was a challange (good kind)

Though the book is a little dated in its language and examples (or maybe just American). I found the book to be a real challenge. The good kind, that leaves you with a finished book, but unfinished brooding and thinking and praying.

Do read this book, but provide time for digesting. I couldnt read it in my normal pace but only went over one section at a time, with a notebook.
