Publisher's summary

In this explosive book, Francis Schaeffer shows why morality and freedom have crumbled in our society. He calls for a massive movement - in government, law, and all of life - to reestablish our Judeo-Christian foundation and turn the tide of moral decadence and loss of freedom. A Christian Manifesto is literally a call for Christians to change the course of history - by returning to biblical Truth and by allowing Christ to be Lord in all of life.

So Prescient

3-17-24.
Look at America & the West now. How far we’ve fallen since even this piece was written. I’m so thankful to have found his works. But he speaks of the necessity of freedom of religion yet doesn’t show how a government with a Christian foundation would deal with that. What to do when the Satanic Temple is allowed to do the invocation prayer before a city council meeting? Or would he have a problem with that? Religion with child sacrifice? We need real tools to put the theory of Truth Love & Compassion into action. I wish Francis S was still around so I could ask him.

Thank you, Dr. Schaeffer, for articulating scripture in in very real terms for the saints of today.

Let's get to work!

I recommend Common Sense by Thomas Paine as a follow-on to this book. Narrator on this is great as well.

Great Content

The content is eye opening but the narrator is a bit boring. I encourage you to listen despite the boring voice because the content is worth it!

A must read for mature Christians

This book provides an excellent summary of the situation of the late 20th century in reference to Christianity, the Law, and politics. This was required reading in my Masters of Public Policy masters. Now, re-reading it in 2023, it seems a bit outdated and could use a new edition. But… nonetheless, still worth reading.

Timely

Particularly helpful to make discernment concerning if and when civil disobedience is appropriate and expected by God.

More timely than ever

Stunned to listen to a book written 40 years ago and find its conclusions and principles as (or more) timely than when originally released.

A Book That Could’ve Been Written In Today’s World

Amazing and sad that a book written the year I was born could be just as relevant today as it was back then. As I continue to mature as Christian, I find that the right side of the political aisle has no more appeal for me than the left. I’m reminded of A.W. Tozer’s quote about tuning 100 pianos to the same tuning fork as opposed to each other. Christian’s should seek Jesus first, tune to him and we will be closer to one another. I also enjoyed the simplicity of explaining the original intent of the 1st Amendment, separation of church and state and how it has been twisted into something it was never meant to be. I like the thought that Christianity shouldn’t be forced but that we should have a “free market” wherein it’s up to us to be the salt and light that pulls others towards Jesus. Overall I recommend this as a read or a good listen. I did enjoy the narrator’s reading of the book.

good educational read/ listen. Will listen again to better digest all of the content. Francis Shaeffer was awake and aware of what was and still is at stake in our country.
