Publisher's summary

Was Jesus the invention of a Roman emperor? The author of this ground-breaking book believes he was. Caesar's Messiah reveals the key to a new and revolutionary understanding of the origin of Christianity, explaining what is the New Testament, who is the real Jesus, and how Christ's second coming already occurred.

The clues leading to these startling conclusions are found in the writings of the first-century historian Flavius Josephus, whose Wars of the Jews is one of the only historical chronicles of this period. Closely comparing the work of Josephus with the New Testament Gospels, Caesar's Messiah demonstrates that the Romans directed the writing of both. Their purpose: to offer a vision of a "peaceful Messiah" who would serve as an alternative to the revolutionary leaders who were rocking first-century Israel and threatening Rome.

Similarly, Caesar's Messiah will rock our understanding of Christian history as it reveals that Jesus was a fictional character portrayed in four Gospels written not by Christians but Romans. This Flavian Signature edition adds Atwill's latest discoveries of numerous parallel events in sequence which ultimately reveal the identity of the true authors of the Gospels.

Case closed...so what's next?

There's plenty of atheist and anti-Christian books out there, but Atwill has turned Christianity into an open and shut case. The case is closed and the verdict is that Christianity is pure fiction invented by the Flavians with some choice people helping them. So what's next?

Well, I guess we have to wait for the rest of the world to catch up to the evidence, but I'm wondering what it will mean for the world when people realize that Christianity is provably fiction. This isn't speculation, nor is Atwill trying to say that Jesus is just based on other myths, or astrotheology. Sure, there are elements of all of that in the bible, but what Atwill shows is conclusive: Christianity is pure fiction and Jesus Christ never existed.

“The truth shall set you free”

Indeed, it has! I am most grateful to have found Mr. Joseph Atwill’s thorough analysis of the true origins of the Christian Enterprise.

The narration by John Allen Martinson Junior, was also impeccable. Many things!

This book marks a turning point in my life, as I hope it does for many others.

May we all have the courage to face the truth and to be free.

How come no one else realize this?

So the thing that I'm wondering is why no one else realized that Josephus, Titus Flavius and his cronies concocted the New Testament? Seriously, after you listen to the first two hours or so, a bunch of stuff will start to click, but its astonishing that no one else has noticed the blatant connections between Josephus' Wars of the Jews and the Gospels. After Joseph Atwill shows you how they're connected it's pretty impossible not to see this. As another reviewer said, the case is closed: Jesus Christ is a fraud, it's just a made up story. I still believe that something created this world (I think atheism is pretty stupid) but the New Testament is a joke...and it is literally a joke. Just get the audiobook. You'll realize that the Gospels are actually a black comedy. It's satire. It's making fun of anyone who actually believes it. Much applause to Joseph Atwill for noticing all this stuff and putting all the pieces together. Shame on everyone else for not realizing we've been had by the Romans and a small group of their Jewish co-conspirators. Great narrator by the way. It was really nice to listen to.

Strong Wake Up Call

Nobody found it odd that Jesus didn't have anything to say against slavery? I would think that would be one of the first clues that the religion is a fraud designed to pacify people...or perhaps the part about the dead coming up out of their graves and walking around town (Matthew 27:52). Funny that's there's no record of any such event ever taking place. In fact, there's no record of Jesus Christ ever existing, nor any of his apostles, but that hasn't stopped Christians from believing in the story. Which begs the question: now that Joseph Atwill has proven beyond any possible shadow of a doubt that Jesus Christ is just a character that the Romans invented, are Christians going to wake up? I really don't think that's likely, but for what it's worth, I hope Mr. Atwill's work does help the world wake up from this mind-numbing religion.

I guess the real joke is that Christians have been murdering and persecuting "pagans" and "heathens" for centuries...and all along their beloved Jesus Christ was no more real than Mickey Mouse or Scooby-Doo.

The End of Christianity & Islam

It is important to note that this is not an atheist book. Joseph Atwill isn't denying the existence of God, he is presenting inarguable evidence that Jesus Christ was a fictional character concocted by the Flavians, and certainly was not God. The character Jesus Christ is nothing but a military psychological operations tool to pacify Rome's enemies. Joseph Atwill's research is so thorough that there can simply be no argument against this. This is not a "maybe," or "could have" or "might be," it is the crystal clear and impervious truth: Jesus Christ is little more than cartoon character. In fact, Joseph Atwill shows that the New Testament is a series of inside jokes that make fun of anyone silly enough to believe in the nonsense that it presents. So after the truth has really sunk in, then you might start to wonder, "What happens next?"

Quite frankly, if this book becomes popular, it will start to bring the end of both Christianity and Islam. Islam carries on the tall-tales presented in the gospels, and thus the Quran is obviously also an obvious fraud. The Quran speaks of Jesus, and it is provable—through the work of Caesar's Messiah—that Jesus is nothing but a fraud, therefore, the Quran is a fraud. End of story.

These are very exciting times for those who are sick and tired of Christianity's seemingly supernatural ability to stupefy people, meanwhile Islam turns young men into chest-beating militants ready to die for Allah.

This book will not disappoint. John's narration of the book makes it easy to follow and entertaining.

A bold challenge to the core of Christianity

Have you listened to any of John Alan Martinson Jr.’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is the first time i have listened to John Alan Martinson Jr.'s narration. His delivery is deliberate and measured. The deep and authoritative tone of his voice and the subtle inflection he employs endeared me as the listener, taking me deeper into the content of the book. These quality's helped me immensely as i am by no means an expert on the topic.

Any additional comments?

This was a highly compelling read, filled with theories and ideas that make a lot of sense.
I found it an informative and exciting work.

My Favorite Book So Far

Love this book. I'm a non believer who has respect for Christianity in general. Reading this really cemented a lot suspicions regarding the creation of Christianity and it really illuminates what will feel like "the obvious" after you've read this book. 3 thumbs up.

holy cow(!!!) er, holy something(!)

Holy Roman Empire(!) hahaha

this wonderful book elucidates excellently the complete overlap between the themes of "Wars of the Jews" & the New Testament; demonstrating effectively that the Jesus of the Bible is [multiple people actually] more or less Titus Flavius & his family, the emperors of Rome who were fighting against Jews; thus the "king of the Jews" is a sort of dark joke: it's Caesar, who was hardly worshipped or loved by the people he was taxing & slaughtering...

oh goodness i liked this one; characters like Mary [who there's something like 6 different] & other members of Jesus's entourage are easily linkable when the two books [Wars of the Jews & the New Testament] are overlaid/compared side-by-side

this truly destroys Christianity for me, which i'm fine w/, as an anti-Jewish, Ceasar-worshipping, deceptive trick for those in the know

hard to say much else: i'd recommend the book highly [audio version 👍👍👍] & can understand why Jews hate Jesus: he's a fill-in for the emperor that destroyed their cities & starved/murdered their people

lastly, he concludes w/ the Jesus of Revelation, showing that it's [of course] Titus's younger brother; his successor

WOW(!!)

Great book, terrible narration

I have limited time to read a lot of books so I love to listen instead. I highly recommend buying a copy to read. The narrator is distractingly bad. It sounds like a poor attempt at a William Shatner impersonation. I would love to see this reissued with a competent narrator.

A stunning achievement. Epic puzzle solved

Great narration. Atwill successfully explains how and why a religion was created by the powerful, several millennia ago. Possibly the most diabolical satire ever created. You'll discover how clever and brutal ancient humor can be. A "good portion" will have a meaning you may have never imagined.
