Mixed impacts

Some of the chapters are profound. Others didn't speak to me. The insights from those that did were well worth the time.

Deep thoughts in journal entry style

Narration was a bit sing-song with a lisp which distracted from the meaning of the words. Content was fine, but I wish I had gotten the print version because the sentence structure was complex and required more thoughtfulness in its consumption than I was able to get through the narration.

For the open minded person

If you are a person with an open mind this is a great book. Loved it.

Love Her Perspective!

I liked this book. I like how Sister Joan teaches us to be more open minded. She shows us how to love and be loved. She brings light and another perspective on many of the issues that face our world today. There is hope if we choose to see it.

I liked The Gift of Years more.

Very good...but not as meaningful to me as The Gift of Years by Sr. Joan.

What does Mary Ann Jacobs bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her voice is pleasant to listen to and her diction is clear. I have the book but made greater progress with the audio version and use the book for reference.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, this book has many chapters and much to take in. However, the more I listened to it in greater chunks of time, the easier it became to follow along.

Any additional comments?

The title is a great metaphor for exploring the stirrings of the soul in times of interior conflict. Deciphering soul language is an art in itself. Sr. Joan brings a lifetime of wisdom to her work: so very grateful she takes the time and effort to share it in book form.

out of touch

just another older person ranting about the state of the world today. no understanding of what it means to not have the privileges that most of the citizens of the United States enjoy. it's easy to live a life when people are feeding you and you have no worry about housing. I don't think this book has much to offer young people.
