Publisher's Summary

An arrogant lord cut off by his family. A penniless widow in desperate need. In their reduced circumstances, can love save them both?

Lord Neil Duncan, third son of the Marquess of Alderton, finally angers his father enough to be cut off from the family. Neil believes it is only a matter of time before he is reinstated, but time is passing slowly and he needs to eat. His so-called friends have abandoned him, no one else trusts him, and it is not until he comes upon a young widow that he finds someone who needs his help as badly as he needs hers.

Teresa Clapham has been without a husband's provision and protection for over a year. Supporting her mother and daughter on the pittance her brother-in-law provides has required her to stretch every farthing. When Lord Neil arrives at her doorstep proposing he work for her to earn his keep, she sees possibility in the man everyone else has deemed an arrogant good-for-nothing.

As Lord Neil works for the first time in his life, Teresa sees in him a tender heart long repressed by his family's expectations - a heart that causes her own to open once more. But her brother-in-law John Clapham is less charmed by Teresa’s new servant. When Lord Neil discovers the secret Mr. Clapham has been keeping, he must decide whether to embrace the man Teresa believes him to be, or fall back on the privileged lifestyle he’s always known.

A spectacular clean romance

I absolutely loved this audiobook! (I haven't been let down by a Sally Britton book yet!) The story is a little different than the typical "boy meets girl" that we all know and love; Especially if you have read the other books in this series that give so much background to the main male character (which I highly recommend. This book is good on it's own, but it's even better after having read the other books).
The characters are well developed, and easily come to life. I have found Sally Britton to have a special talent for that. I come to love each and every one of her characters.
The narrator does a marvelous job. She is so easy to listen to. The words flow very well, and she is great at expressing the emotions behind the characters words and thoughts, but without going overboard to do so. I have loved listening to audiobooks with her as a narrator. I hope she continues to do Sally's books for a long time.
I would highly recommend this audiobook to anyone who is looking for a sweet, clean, regency romance that they can listen to even if they are doing chores at the same time.

Good Clean Romance

I so disliked Lord Neil that I put off listening to this book for quite a while. I was pleasantly surprised at how the author managed to win me over. Good story without a lot of the angst. Well done.

Such a lovely story

MS. Britton does it again, delving into her characters, mining the gold from deep within. She has a powerful gift that takes the ordinary and makes it shine. I loved that she shows characters in a natural way, not exploiting their faults so much as presenting them in a matter of fact way for the reader to decide or judge for themselves. This tale is fall of heart and warmth.

A well-deserved happy ever after

After seeing the character in other stories in this series, I had hoped he would get his own story! I knew there was more to him than is implied, and so enjoyed how his story unfolded.

Second chances and finding a love so true

This story was such a touching one. The beginning...that was downright heartbreaking. It was so sad and coupled with how the narrator read it, it touched something deep within. It was a hard road for all the characters and some of the revelations were surprising. It did provide though such a wonderful definition of love.

A Lovely Story of Redemption

Lord Neil has been cut off from his family, and with no where to turn he stumbles upon the humble home of Teresa Clapham and her mother, Until the sudden death of her husband, Teresa had been well-off but upon her husband's death she finds herself impoverished. In their impoverished state, Teresa and her mother have learned to work hard and provide for themselves. In exchange for his labor, Teresa and her mother allow Lord Neil to stay at their farm, and with the assistance of hard labor and someone believing in him, Lord Neil begins to reform.

This is such a lovely story of growth, redemption, and love. So glad that Sally Britton wrote such a wonderful story for Lord Neil. This book left me feeling warm and happy.

Sally is a great writer, and she writes characters with depth; I love everything that she writes. The narrator effortlessly changes voices with skill.

Surprising

When I saw there was a book about Lord Neil, I thought to myself, I would never read it! But then they were pieces revealed about him throughout the last three books that had me curious. I am so glad that I listen to this book. It is one of my favorites in the series!!!!!! I do not want to go on about any details so that I do not spoil anything for anyone. But if you had similar feelings to mine, you will not regret it if you read/ listen to this book!!!
Clean wholesome and refreshing!!!💕💕

My favorite!

I wasn’t going to listen to this one because I had listed to the others in the series and didn’t like Lord Neal at all…but I’m so so glad I did! This was the best one!! I loved getting to know the real Lord Neal but I admit I cried several times over his heartbreaking lonely life! Always thankful for HEA!

Surprising Favorite

I did not expect to root for Lord Neal after his despicable actions previously in the series. This may be my favorite!

Sally Britton is masterful at creating rich characters and fascinating plots. I love all her books!

Story of loss and win

A good life lived in this period often came at the cost of devastation. This family became the saving that was needed for positive change. Very enjoyable book/audiobook.

Reforming Lord Neil

A pleasant and gentle storyline.
Rather predictable. Lacks the humour of Georgette Heyer. Narration good.

A bit drawn out

The plot is good but it was too padded. The narrator made natural feelings sound mawkish.

A kind story.

The hero has been portrait in earlier books and has been slowly changing his outlook to life. In this he is forced to face his true reality, in where he fitted in society and who are his true friends
The heroine has been left penniless, with a struggling farm. Yet she and her family are the only ones willing to give a totally stranger compassion. Despite the hard work, the hero starts to see how futile his previous life was and caring for someone, other than himself, turns his life around.

Who knew one could root so much for Lord Neil?

Sally Britton has managed to pull off what no one could have imagined after reading Rescuing Lord Inglewood, that is, to reform and redeem Lord Neil. And oh, what a journey it was. Granted, that's why it's necessary to read the series in order, or at least, Engaging Sir Isaac before this one, (in order to start seeing his change of heart), but still, getting to read about his thoughts and motivations, as well as having him face a new set of challenges in his circumstances made for a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Of course, the reader wouldn't have been able to see/experience much of this change were it not for Mrs. Teresa Clapham's character, as well as her family. I loved how these two found each other when they needed it the most, and how they were able to help each other in different ways throughout the book. Their love story was definitely swoony, and I definitely loved the pace of it as well as the warm feelings it evoked. Of course, having some of the previous couples in the series make an appearance was definitely great :). //

Now, this being an audiobook upped the enjoyable factor by a thousand since, once again, Marian Hussey delivered a wonderful performance of each and every one of the characters. It doesn't matter if it was as young as Caroline (Teresa's daughter), or as old as a magistrate, or if, on the other hand, the characters were having a heated argument, were being threatening to others, or were having a tender moment, she nailed every single one of them 🙌. //

Thus, if you love Sally Britton's work, or if you're just a fan of Sweet Historical Romance books, I can't recommend this audiobook and this series enough. Go and grab your copy! ~ 5 stars

Finally a story for our Lord Neil!

Reforming Lord Neil is the fifth book in the Inglewood series, although it is interesting to have seen the Lord Neil's character in the previous books this story is very much a stand alone. It is wonderfully well written. It captured my attention right from the start. Marian Hussey (as always) narrates the story in such a way as to breathe life into an already very lively tale. Reforming Lord Neil is a clean regency romance that was very enjoyable story of redemption and grace.

This is my favourite of the Inglewood series!

Oh wow! Can it be possible?! I think this might actually be my favourite book out of the Inglewood series yet! I had an inkling that I was going to enjoy Lord Neil’s character from the last book but Britton exceeded my expectations! I love how well done this book was. You DEFINITELY have to read the previous books in the series... ALL of them! Because Lord Neil first appears right at the beginning and each book he appears in is referred back to in this one. Honestly, it fills out the background for his character and how his reform starts well before this one, so you won’t regret it - plus they are fantastic stories! I loved them all.
I know I go on a lot about character development with all of my reviews but seriously people, this is important! If the characters aren’t developed properly they appear as very 1-dimensional. Like the words just written on the page. But a well developed character, comes to life in any receptive imagination! They start to feel like friends and acquaintances. I love it when this happens. Britton does an excellent job of this. Plus - clean and wholesome with still all the joy and excitement and suspense a romance can bring. Perfectly balanced humour and wit throughout. Sigh. What’s not to love in a reformed bad-boy who is actually, secretly, very kind and caring along with a lady who is spirited and strong-willed despite having trials thrown at her constantly and villains trying to crush her at every opportunity?

I can definitely recommend this book... Along with the entire series! Plus, I’m hoping that one day we’ll also get to read Cara’s story 😉😁
Narrated by the talented Marian Hussey - who brought the story off the page and was a true delight to listen to. I loved every minute of it!

Loved it!

I thoroughly despised Lord Neil in the other books so I wasn't sure about this one. But to my surprise I absolutely loved it!! I think it was my favorite out of all of them which is saying something because I've thoroughly enjoyed them all! Beautifully written and an accurate outcome of how the past can shape us but how we can also move forward

Trust the positive reviews. Excellent story!!

Loved it. Clean romance. Highly recommend.
I was a little hesitant to purchase this at 1st, but trusted the other reviewers and was not disappointed.
Aa always this Narrator is excellent. Good pace, characters are well differentiated. Beats me how she does such a low voice for the male characters but she does!! Well done to her.
