Publisher's summary

Nearly the last remaining member of Olivia Cattenach's family has just died overseas and left her overcome by grief. But when a soldier shows up at her ranch with a final message from her brother, she finds new purpose.

Nathan Roldan is as formidable as they come. Bulging muscles and inked to boot, he looks like every bit the bad boy he claims to be. Except, under his shuttered gaze and behind his walls lies a gentle giant.

Determined to carry out her brother's wishes, she chips away at Nate's layers and discovers more pain than any person should ever have to endure. A passion she never dreamed of was possible.

He's not the hero she thinks he is.... Nate's mistake got a fellow comrade killed, and a deathbed promise to take care of the guy's sister lands him in Wyoming with the hope of redemption. But he wasn't expecting...her. Beautiful, witty, and sweet, Olivia is everything he doesn't deserve. Born a nothing, he'll die a nothing.

Though guilt is a living thing, temptation is too hard to resist. Somehow, she's unleashing his restraint and unearthing feelings he buried long ago. He wants her. More, he's worried he needs her.

She's trying to save him, but when she learns the truth, he'll lose the only happiness he's ever known.

Saved by the rancher

Olivia runs her family ranch. When Nate shows up with a letter from her deceased brother she insist he stay on the ranch and work for her. Nate has so much guilt and a past that he doesn't want Olivia to know about. Olivia senses Nate has been hurt and she is determined to help him. If her brother recommended he come to her then he is a good man to her.

This is a really good story of loss and love and redemption for a guilty feeling of fault that wasn't his to carry.

Gene Branson did a good job narrating this book. I prefer both male and female narrators but he did good.

Love military romances

This story got me hooked from the very beginning. Our hero is looking for redemption from a serious error he believed he made. Our heroine heals his heart and a beautiful slow burning romance develops. I live how you could feel his agony and regret. I’m so happy this is a series so im off to the next one.
The narration is very good as well. I usually dislike male narrators but he made good female voices and added the necessary emotion. Highly recommended for fans of military romance or second chance stories.

I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine.

Redemption Worth Redeeming

Redemption is not my usual read. It takes place on a ranch. The male protagonist just got out of the military. Neither are tropes I usually seek out. And yet, I enjoyed the story. The building relationship was well done as were the supporting characters. The setting seemed realistic. And the ending was nicely done. I liked tha narrator. He made the third-person omniscient voice different from the characters, which is not always easy. So, I would say if you like romances that are a little complicated but not overly angsty, this might be a good listen for you.

Loved this book

There were a couple times there were years in my eyes. Dealing with guilt because and the fact he was commanding officer when Olivia's brother was killed in Iraq. But also guilt because he didn't tell that to Olivia right away and now he loves her after spending time in the ranch with her after he promised her brother to talk care of her. Will Olivia convince him he is what she wants and he deserves to be loved and to forgive himself?

Learning to live

Nate has been discharged from the military & he feels guilt over being the cause of the death of one of his unit & the only friend he's ever has. He shows up on the ranch of that friend with a "If you are reading this" letter for Olivia. Olivia now runs the family ranch with help from her aunt & several friends. She gives Nate a place to stay. As she spends time with Nate, she sees that he's broken in ways that she doesn't know. She is attracted to him, and she does everything she can to help him learn to experience what life has to offer & help him take his unpleasant memories & replace them with new experiences. Nate knows that he has to tell Olivia his big secret, but he can't bring himself to do it. He tries everything to keep her at arms length, but he's drawn to her. When he finally tells her his secret, he gets the reaction he expected & leaves. How does he go about getting his redemption & forgiving himself?

This is my first ever book by this author & I absolutely loved this story. Nate comes across as cold in the beginning, but you learn that it's just who he is based on everything he has been thru since birth. He honestly doesn't know how to fully live & experience all life has to offer until Olivia starts helping him with new experiences & showing him what it's like to actually feel something. Olivia is a strong woman even after losing her family. I thought this was one of the best stories I've read/listened to that had great character development and world building. The emotions & feelings range the complete range & pulls you in to the story completely. You fall in love with all of the characters. The steam factor between Nate & Olivia is on the OMG! level. My only issue was the narrator. I thought he could have done a better job on voicing Olivia & the other few women in the story, but he does a really good job of giving each male character a different voice inflection. Story ends with a HEA.

Sweet love

I did the mistake to listen to the second book before this one so ofcors I knew the ending. I enjoyed the second book and was sure I would do the same with this one. The author and the narrator are good. sometimes the stories are a lot alike just different characters, like mind settings of a character or how the character looks at them self.
