Captain Li Wing Hua has been a prisoner of an alien race for nearly four years, freed at last after the war. So when he's finally made captain of another space ship, he's eager to return to space. But when he discovers an observation outpost wrecked and the crew tortured to death, Hua has reason to suspect the same alien race that tortured and held him captive those four long years. But can he unravel the mystery before it causes an interstellar incident?

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book to any fan of military science fiction and/or space exploration.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character was the A.I. called Able. He served as both the comic relief and expository character quite well.

Which scene was your favorite?

The subtle political maneuvering that the main character used to obtain command of his own ship.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

"Huer you going to trust?"

Any additional comments?

I usually don't go for this kind of fiction, as it is not my cup of tea. However, Burk does a good job of fleshing out characters, cultures, and conflict. The main character has suffered a horrific wrong. A desire for revenge could be justified in their case, but instead they try to do the right thing. I think the essence of this tale is doing what you feel is right vs. what you know is right.

This is a good action, adventure sci-fi story. You can relate to the characters. The characters are well developed. The story moves along at a good pace. Although it is not stated, it appears that this is just the beginning of a good series. I will definitely buy the next book when it comes out.
