Publisher's summary

My name is Jesse Ames. I’m an ex-fed with an aversion to authority and an unusual partner—a wolf shifter with an interesting way of blending in. A shifter within a shifter.

Eleven years at the FBI taught me two things—how to stay alive when a gun is pointed at my head, and that I never want to work for anyone else ever again. When I moved to Atlanta and started my own PI firm, I swore I’d never make my living chasing down missing or philandering spouses. But the rent is due, so when a woman knocked on my door and offered me a boatload of money to track down her missing husband who helped himself to a family heirloom on his way out, I had a hard time saying no. Seemed like easy money.

Wrong.

The local vampire cartel has also taken an interest in my case, and now I’m neck-deep in the shady blood trade questioning who the bad guys really are. Throw in a wizard with a fascination for dinosaurs and Venus flytraps, and my case just got even more complicated.

Did I mention my dead ancestors talk to me, and my partner and I are on the run from a ruthless vampire in New Orleans?

The Chronicles of Jesse Ames series is part of the Katie Bishop universe, so old friends from Savannah will pop in often.

Warning: Jesse has a mouth like a sailor. Colorful language is guaranteed.

Jessie’s personality

I really enjoyed this new series. I look forward to reading the next one. Lots of excitement, shifters, vampires, and much more

Finally! An author who does it!

This is EXACTLY what I’ve been missing. Luanne Bennett wrote her FMC with the perfect balance of bad ass and knows her limits. Man was it a breath of fresh air. I do wish there was a little more grit, dirtiness, maybe a sex scene or 3, but honestly I have been needing a good women lead for a long long time. She doesn’t get angry for no reason!! HUGE! It made the story so much better. And man I needed that.

very bland and mediocre story with flat characters

made it most of the way through before giving up. this was just a dead fish of a story with decent narration. the main character lacks any sort of charm in any sense, simply flailing about in the dark without much result in getting things done, gets knocked out and captured constantly, and as the main character doesnt actually really seem to add anything to the story.

the plot thread itself seems a cool idea, but never actually goes any where and is only revealed in the last 2 hours, about where i dropped out. the entire thing just meanders along aimlessly making the characters look ineffective and stupid with no real moments of showing just why we should like them, the story, or anything.
