We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

I hope there will be more.
I've listened to all 6 books in the Retrieval Artist series and enjoyed them all. The characters are interesting and easy to come to care about, despite their flaws. The futuristic story line is interesting, but still believable. The narrator does a great job, too. I hope there will be more in this series.

I want more!
I have just finished this book and have listened to the other five. I have thoroughly enjoyed each book. The characters are supportive to the main character "Miles Flint". He has become a friend of mine. I am caught up to the last. I'm gonna miss him. I recomend this book for many ages. Easy listening with enough grip to keep you intrested.

Too much coincidence
I've really enjoyed this series so far. I like the characters and the universe. While much of the set up to this point has been extreme at times I always enjoyed it. Examples would be how Flint seems to be the best at almost everything he does, smarter than everyone, not to mention a super hacker etc.
But overall that has been fun. While I still enjoyed this book I was annoyed by how it turns so much plot on it's ear from the previous books. It intertwines so many layers from previous books that I think were better left as character development rather than future plot.
Don't get me wrong it is still a very good book, but both not as good as some of the past ones and foreshadows future events in a way I am not currently looking forward to.
As always though Jay Snyder does an excellent job bringing the written words to life.

Too much instrospection
I really like these books, and think Miles and the other characters are worth following. But there's so much discussion of internal states, twisting and clenching of stomachs, and recitation of backstory that I find myself sometimes telling the narrator to just move on instead of dwelling incessantly on some of the details. Perhaps an abridged version would be more enjoyable. Nevertheless, I look forward to the next installment, having discovered some surprising information about Miles and his family. The narration is good, too.

Left me hanging
As you read this review please understand that as a whole I believe The Retrieval Artist Series is one of the best that I have found in a long time. As a long time sci-fi nut and retired police officer I found that I could relate to the characters very well. I even found myself bring up suggestions as Noel and Miles did their thing. I could not wait for the next audiobook to come out. Unfortunately for me the Recovery Man left me hanging. I really did not get a true since that the story ended. All of the bad guys were taken care of in true Kristine fashion but the bringing together of the 2 main characters toward then end could have been smoother.

A very nice end to the series
In a way, this novel "closed the circle" that began with the first of the series. I've enjoyed the series far more than expected.
Unlike other reviewers, wanting another episode, I think it might be better to end on this satisfying note. Other series that grabbed my interest during the first few novels, turned out to be very disappointing - and never ending wastes of time. I won't mention any series by name, but hints are in my wording. (Smile).

I find this series of books very entertaining. It keeps you guessing all the way to the end. I look forward to listening to more books about Miles Flint. I agree with the other reviewer, he has become a friend.
The books are very easy to listen to, easy to follow. The descriptions are wonderful and in my mind, I feel I see them as the writer intended.
