Publisher's summary

Over the past decade, Khaz has watched as supernatural creatures like himself have turned the world into their own personal playground. Unlike the others, he didn't benefit from the Takeover, and every time he sells himself to keep a roof over his head, he's keenly aware of that fact. His landlord, a renowned slaver, offers him the chance to catch up on his rent by breaking a human.

Groomed to fight, Noah has survived by giving himself over to his hatred of those who took everything away from humanity. When the werewolf can't break him, he's given to the vampire instead - and he's sure this will be no different. The problem is that even the harsh lessons the Rebellion taught him couldn't prepare him for someone like Khaz...who always has an ace up his sleeve.

Now that supernatural beings have seized control of the world, life has become a struggle for the humans who once held power. Witches, vampires, and werewolves determine the fate of every single human, but their moral compasses have long since been shattered. Rebels, free humans, and slaves all share dreams of hope, mercy, love, and more. But with their fate so uncertain, survival isn't enough...and they may have to sacrifice what is nearest and dearest to them if they want to change their lives.

Bought, Ravel, and Recoil feature different characters whose lives begin to come together in Owned and Temper. This dystopian series explores different aspects of the world, from utter darkness to the shining lights waiting to emerge. Because of this, the audiobooks range from dark erotica to romance to horror to action(ish) to bits of other things in between.

  1. Bought*: Jace and Elias [Paranormal dark erotica]

Loved everything about it!!

First of all I have to say that I loved the characters of Khaz and Noah, the way in which the author has built their characters and their inner demons that lead them to not find a suitable place for them in this world now changed forever. Khaz forced to sell not only his body to survive, but also to go against his principles, which yes, still disturb his soul, and after a long time he will find himself making a difficult decision, to ignore his feelings and continue as he has always done with his sad and empty life, or risk everything for a human he just known for a few days, but that has had such a strong impact in his life. Noah for his part has no decision-making power in this situation, but not for this he will be silent to suffer as nothing was, even coming to supplicate this creature of the night, that he should hate, but for some reason infuses a security that he had not felt for a long time. After this audiobook you won't be able to not rush to listen to the next one, and with the beautiful voice of Jack Noble this was an absolute pleasure from start to finish.

Great book and narration

It was great to remember why I loved this book so much. There was so much I didn’t remember about it that listening to it was an amazing experience.

I liked the narrator’s voice. I’m getting used to the accent. It felt a little slow paced but still enjoyable. What I liked the most about the narration was the emotions that were portray. Noah was the one that I could get more in touch of his feelings through the narration, most of it his anger and his defiant attitude that I loved. I still liked Khaz more as a character, in his case I loved the mocking attitude that he take at times.

The plot is really good but it shouldn’t be read as a stand-alone. It is part of a series and it should be read in the right order. It might be set in a dark world, but this particular instalment is one of the sweetest. Overall a fantastic experience listening to a much recommend it series.

The story was different and very good. It does end in a cliffhanger so I am ready for the next book in the series.

Can you change your own fate?

This is a well written story and really pulls on the heart strings. And it ends with you not knowing what happend. I hope I learn their fate in the next book. It definitely has me wanting more.
Narrator Jack Noble does a wonderful job and I'm glad to hear him again with this book.

A very emotional ride

I'll be honest here and tell you that this stirred up a lot of emotions in me, not all of them good, but for a book to grab and hold me like that, the author has to be really good. I ached for Khaz and especially for Noah, they'd both been dealt a horrible hand in life, and despite the circumstances I was glad they'd found each other.

Jack Noble's narration was very good and I'll definitely continnue with this series.

Amazing installment to an intriguing series

Recoil is the third installment in R. Phoenix's Fate of the Fallen series and I think is a great addition to the story.

Khaz is a vampire tasked with breaking a human. He is not exactly like the other Supes benefiting from The Takeover. Noah is expecting just another Supernatural creature who has made the world into their playground and have enslaved the humans. But both men find that things aren't as they assumed with the other.

The story is well told and highly intriguing, grasping your interest right from the beginning and refusing to lose you. You can feel the emotional turmoil and struggles of the characters. The connection between the characters is intense and it keeps the reader enthralled. The book leaves you with a massive cliffhanger and needing to get your hands on the next installment.

The narrator does a fantastic job. Great voice and ability to use it to keep the attention of the listener. It adds to the experience instead of taking away from it.

I received this book as an advanced reader's copy and voluntarily am leaving my honest review and recommendation.

Remarkable love story

As a straight person, I never imagined I would enjoy a gay love story, but this was a great read. It was imaginative and exciting, and I cannot wait until the next chapter is available on audible. I hope Jack Noble continues to narrate.

Amazing addition to the series!

This book is one of my favorites of the series. I love Khaz and Noah so much I was excited to listen to their story. Jack Noble does a great job getting the characters and their struggles down. He plays the roles really well and narrates the story in a way that it's easy to visualize.

I was a bit worried because I love these characters so much and I wanted them to be perfect, but I think he nails them beautifully and I can't wait to hear the next book because that one has some of the best emotionally charged scenes in the series and hearing them will be fun.

I'm so glad that R. Phoenix chose this narrator for the series because he's doing a fantastic job and I couldn't picture anyone else voicing these characters.
