Trust no one. Pull the trigger. Hide. Run. Stay away from the other survivors. Stay away from the Infected. Emma has obeyed her father's rules since she can remember running from the car accident that claimed his life. But one night that all changes. The knock at her cabin door and the voice of the girl on the other side don't make Emma help the girl. Story
There will come a day when love will mark you as a traitor. In a society where emotions are nothing and function is everything, Avlyn Lark is just trying to blend in. She's lucky to be alive, unlike her twin brother Ben who died when they were four. And she's lucky to have been taken from her biological parents and assigned to a Level Two family. But mastering her emotions? That's a problem, especially when a rebel bomb blows up a building right in front of her. Then on Configuration Day, Avlyn's official transition to adulthood, she starts seeing strange visions. And instead of being placed with a low-level tech company where she could hide away, she's hired by Genesis Technologies, the government firm that monitors every citizen. Now, instead of blending in, Avlyn fears she'll be exposed for what she really is.

Story
When people started getting sick, they thought it was just the flu. My roommate, my boyfriend, my family ...they're all gone now. I got sick too. I should have died with them-with the rest of the world-but I didn't. I thought witnessing the human population almost disappear off the face of the earth was the craziest thing I'd ever experience. I was so wrong. My name is Dani O'Connor, I'm twenty-six-years-old, and I survived the ending.

Robin never could have imagined that things would go so wrong. Never could have dreamed they would find what they found within that innocuous-looking building. And now it’s too late: They’ve seen what they’ve seen, and there is no time to talk. No time to even think. Not with the caliber of people who are now on their trail. Fleeing is their priority - but even if they escape, it’s uncertain whether they will ever truly be free.

Gag gag gag?!
I gag, you gag, we all gag.... What is with the word gag? She said it at least 30 times in the series! The overall story was fine but I got sick of the repetitiveness. Maybe I'm just being picky but I felt like I was re-listening to parts and stuff just got old. Anyway... I'm going to write a book called gag and see how many times I can make my main character gag over all sorts of stuff...

Good but could have been better.
I kept thinking this story would work out its kinks as it went on but it didn't. There were many parts of the story that didn't connect with other parts or characters that did things or said things that had no reasoning or motivation behind them. The concept and bones of this story are really good yet some parts were heavy handed and left me wondering why the characters did what they did. There was a lot of capture and release in the story which became redundant and I wished more time could have been spent on discovering more about the gen people, what they were fully capable of and why some were more aggressive than others.
All in all not to bad of a story but not one I will listen to again.
