Publisher's summary

Ever since his cousin Adelaide disappeared, Cole Cameron has been searching for her and for Isaiah Jones, whom he blames for her kidnapping, after a hellacious fight in town involving - if the stories of drunken saloon goers were to be believed - men who changed into wolves. Being a practical man, Cole doesn't believe it.

Then he is rescued from a pack of strangely intelligent wolves by none other than his quarry, Isaiah, who brings him to a hidden valley where the Shadow Reapers have settled, where he is reunited with Adelaide, and where he finds the beautiful Miranda. Miranda was once a captive of the enemy pack of Rogues. Now a werewolf herself, all she wants is to protect her daughter and try to forget the husband she lost. But Jeb is not about to give up the greatest desire he's ever felt in his life. And he has vowed to make Miranda his - no matter what stands in his way...

3.5 STARS IT WAS OK.... JUST OK

I have been staring at a blinking cursor for what seems like ages trying to put into words my thoughts on this listen.... in parts it was very good yet in others it dragged on and I even thought about stopping it but to do that to a Sarah McCarty book seemed so wrong so, ever the optimist, I carried on. After all I love PNR and to recap Shadow Reapers were men experimented on to become gifted Werewolves but some went bad and became the Rogue Reapers.

Once Cole eventually found Adelaide and Isaiah happy together in the Shadow Reaper's hidden camp, his thoughts kept wandering to Miranda a timid scarred and scared Reaper and her sweet 6 year old human daughter who he instantly connected to in some very touching scenes (she stole the show for me). Miranda was constantly being threatened and Cole came to her rescue and they were both drawn to each other. But the overwhelming threat of the Rogue Reapers was always present and even when Miranda took justice into her own hands the threat to them all is building.

Worth a credit? If you are going to continue with this series then you'll think it a must - I was disappointed Cole didn't make the ultimate sacrifice and I just didn't feel the chemistry or the romance and the sex was a 'tamed right down' version of what Sarah has written before. There was action but a lot of angst too, there was questions answered but more followed and because of the long wait between books (2 years) I didn't really remember book 1 so I sadly couldn't recommend this book and won't be holding my breath for the next one but who knows you, like some others, may love it.

Different twist on Shifter theme!

I appreciate the way this author has an unique shifter world. It more like a traditional werewolf theme, actually. However, it has an unique spin on the traditional and I enjoyed very much!

Great follow to Book 1!!

Sarah continues to surprise me with these story lines and sexy heros and heroine! I was pleasantly surprised with the uncommoness of Cole and his view of the Reaper world. Thank goodness Miranda accepts that of him. If you haven't read any of Sarah's books, this is a great one to start, even if it is Book 2.

Love Sara McCarty

Wish she would write more. I love the old west theme she uses. Different than all the others out there.
