We all need a reality check!💜

This was a fun short story. Out of the brilliant mind of Roberto Scarlato comes a story that reminds us that sometimes we really do need a reality check on ourselves and in our lives.
The narrator has a great voice but his narration was a little choppy.

In the realm of audiobooks, some hidden gems transcend genres and expectations, leaving a profound impact on listeners. "Reality Check" by Roberto Scarlato, narrated by the talented Dana Joseph Wilson, is undoubtedly one such gem. In this review, we will delve into the world of "Reality Check" and explore how it offers a unique and thought-provoking experience that lingers in the mind long after the last word has been spoken.

At first glance, "Reality Check" may seem almost like a LitRPG (Literary Role-Playing Game) novel, but it gracefully dances on the edges of the genre without fully immersing itself. Scarlato's storytelling is a delightful blend of various elements, making this audiobook a refreshing deviation from the norm.

The heart of "Reality Check" lies in its exploration of profound themes, including the nature of loss, perception, and love. Scarlato invites listeners on a journey of self-discovery as they follow the protagonist, Scott Meachum, through a night filled with seemingly insurmountable bad luck. But it is a single, life-altering decision that truly sets the stage for the thought-provoking narrative that unfolds.

Family is a central theme that reverberates throughout the story, grounding it in relatability and emotional resonance. Scarlato masterfully weaves familial bonds into the fabric of the plot, making it a story not only about individual growth but also about the connections that shape our lives.

Roberto Scarlato's narration skills are well-regarded, but in "Reality Check," he takes a step back from being the voice behind the book and entrusts the task to the talented Dana Joseph Wilson. Wilson's narration is nothing short of exceptional, bringing the characters and their emotions to life with every word. The choice of Wilson as the audiobook's narrator is a testament to Scarlato's commitment to providing listeners with a top-notch experience. It's evident that both Scarlato and Wilson are masters of their craft, creating a synergy that enhances the audiobook's overall quality.

While "Reality Check" flirts with LitRPG elements, it doesn't fully qualify as one. Instead, it treads its own unique path, blending elements of fantasy and reality to create a captivating narrative that challenges the boundaries of perception. Scarlato skillfully infuses the story with elements that will delight fans of the LitRPG genre, providing just enough immersion to make it intriguing without overwhelming those unfamiliar with the genre.

"Reality Check" is more than just an audiobook; it's an experience. It's a journey that transports listeners into a world where reality and fantasy intersect, where choices have consequences, and where the power of love and family cannot be underestimated. Scarlato's storytelling prowess ensures that this audiobook isn't easily forgotten; it's the kind of story that lingers in your mind, prompting you to reflect on its themes long after the final chapter.

"Reality Check" by Roberto Scarlato, narrated by Dana Joseph Wilson, is a true gem in the audiobook landscape. It defies easy categorization, offering a unique blend of genres that keeps listeners engaged and thoughtfully introspective. Scarlato's storytelling, coupled with Wilson's exceptional narration, makes this audiobook an unforgettable experience. Whether you're a fan of LitRPG or simply seeking a thought-provoking tale that explores the complexities of life, "Reality Check" is a must-listen that will leave a lasting impression. Don't miss the opportunity to embark on this remarkable journey into the realms of reality and imagination.

My Reality check…

First thing first, know the genre before starting the book.
I am more of a romance or crime genre. I don’t do well with the unexplained or fantasy or time warp or universe type of stuff. This book is more of an alternate world story and I had to have someone who gets that explain it to me, then it made more sense. Just because it isn’t for me doesn’t mean it isn’t for you. If fantasy world is your thing then I recommend this book. Narration was ok.
