Publisher's Summary

From a secret duo of USA Today best-selling authors, comes the first complete standalone in the Single Dads Club set of books.

Red flags....

Too loud. Too clingy. Too much make-up.

I could go on and on. The other guys in the Single Dads Club would say I'm obsessed with finding them. But none of their kids' mothers call a maximum-security prison home either, so their opinions mean shit.

Caterina Santora has her own list of red flags....

She's too young. She's my client's daughter. She's my five-year-old's camp counselor.

Even after repeating this mantra to myself every morning on the way to Lily's summer camp, guess what happens the moment I see Cat? Yeah, that mantra turns into ride me, doggie style and reverse cowgirl.

Every. Damn. Time.

The fact that she doesn't remember me from six years before grates on me until I don't have it in me to leave her alone any longer. I have to have her. But our lives are opposites in every way. In no way compatible.

When we're together, all the complications fade away, and I have to keep reminding myself, even if I can have her - I can't keep her.

Oh so smooth!

If you could sum up Real Deal in three words, what would they be?

Hot, different, funny

Who was your favorite character and why?

Katarina, she is the bomb!

What about Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross ’s performance did you like?

Oh my me, loved Wen's Marcus and Kai's Kat....Both of their voices are as smooth as satin pajamas on silk sheets!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I loved the fact that they both were in every chapter, with Wen doing the male voices and Kai the female. This is the first audio book I have listened to that did that and it really grabbed me and pulled me into the story! I did laugh and I did blush which a good romantic comedy should!

Any additional comments?

I haven't been a huge fan of audio books, however after listening to this story, I am hoping that more authors have their audiobooks performed like this, with both narrators in the chapter instead of just one per chapter. It's hard for me to listen to a man read a female part and vice versa. This book was so enjoyable to listen to! Thank you!

Enjoyed very much!

This is what happens to a lot of men in the world. It had humor in it and serious moments also. Wen and Kai are the perfect combination to make it come to life in their narration.

I tried this as I really like listening to Wen and Kai. I couldn’t get through it. It felt like a story written by a teenager, about teenagers.

It Was Just OK

This book was ok. I listened to the audiobook and felt like I should have enjoyed it more. I thought the narration was pretty good. It seemed as though the sound faded a couple of times, but overall, I thought the narrators played off of each other very well. There were a number of sex scenes in this book. I am not saying that because I was bothered or offended by them, I just thought they were incredibly boring. I had to rewind several times because I would tune out for so long, I would miss part of the next scene. Dane was childish, ridiculous, and seemed to have no redeeming qualities other than his son Toby liked him. Garrett was a brooder. Marcus and Cat were irritating until they worked through that whole 6 year thing. Then they were just kind of boring. Cat's roommates seemed kind of ditzy and self righteous at the same time. Not to mention they all behaved like they had these big secrets in their lives. I understood Marcus trying to protect Lily, but I would have thought given her mother's situation, he would have had legal documents in place a long time ago. I also understood why he didn't want Lily to visit her, but I didn't understand why he kept brushing her off, especially when she asked about her mother so often. The best part of the book was Lily. Anyway that is just one woman's opinion. I would recommend that you read or listen and judge for yourself. I really wanted to like this second chance romance, but it was only OK.

Sweet Story...

As I read through the story line, I find myself feeling that there was something missing. The chemistry between the narrators was felt throughout the book, but I couldn't help thinking that Wen didn't show as much emotion as I had hoped. Even the banter between Marcus, Dane and Garrett could have been stronger. The story itself was sweet. Lilly stole the show in much of the book. Who can resist a cute 5 year old! Dane, however, I just wanted to sap him upside his head most of the time. Having a story between two people with 10 years between them can go in so many different directions. I enjoyed the respect that was given to Cat by all of the characters. She could have easily been portrayed as a naive girl. But I loved the heart and protectiveness of Marcus as a single dad. The constant reminder throughout the book that first and foremost important person in Marcus' life was Lily, made me want to continue reading and really enjoy the book. Piper Rayne has always been one of my favorite authors. She gives her readers a story line that captures your heart and enough intrigue just to see how it plays out. I would recommend this book for anyone looking for a sweet romance, that gives you a little heat.

The real deal!

Cat and Marcus had met 6 years earlier, but due to circumstances beyond her control, Marcus left and married another woman. Fast forward to now, and Cat is a summer camp counselor and who's daughter is there, but Marcus's. Though 10 years her senior, Marcus and Cat have a chemistry that is undeniable, and they cannot stay apart. Now in a summer fling relationship, there is more at stake than just some fun and sex. All three of their hearts are invested, including Lily's. Secrets are threatening and opportunities that may be too hard to pass up. Will they survive past the summer? I think Piper Rayne portrayed the perfect single father. Marcus is all about Lily, she is always first in his life, and has given her the love and security she needs. With Cat, she gives this duo the final piece to make them complete, and I love the way she goes about making that piece fit. With a little twist with Lily's mom and a little angst between the Marcus and Cat, a good listen is created. Love this summertime romance, perfect for those hot summer nights. Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross give this story just the right amount of emotional tug. They always bring their best, but I especially love their narrations when they include children. Kai brings Lily to life so it sounds just like a 5 year old and Wen gives Marcus that protective, loving daddy voice. It's a great listen.

Female voice

I dont think the female voice matches the character. It kind of lessened my liking of the story - but she was a good story teller.

Boring story and characters

I was so bored throughout this book! Nearly stopped so many times. The hero is an arrogant moody a-hole - not sexy sultry and mysterious, just straight up moody. He doesn’t have any traits that are sexy or attractive. The heroine is just a bit dull too. There’s not really any plot either which doesn’t help, and it has a very anticlimactic and lacklustre ending. I’ve heard about this duel narration thing where the male voice narrates the hero’s internal thoughts and what the male characters say, and a female narrator pipes in with any female voices, then opposite on the heroine point of view chapters. Other people seem to like this method of narration but it sounds terrible! Maybe it’s because the narrators aren’t good enough and the characters are rubbish. It sounds so forced with fake laughs.

Alright read

The story line is good and the pacing of the storytelling was good, revelations and how realiatic the story is made it alright..but i hated the chuckles and giggling and laughs by the narrators, it broke off the flow. maybe its just me but i thought it would have been better to have one person read all through a chapter and not two at once. but overall I liked the story.
