Mia Emerson has made one wrong decision after another but none worse than walking away from the boy who stole her heart so long ago. When her new life is turned upside down, she finds herself returning to her roots and the hometown she left behind. Maybe now she can find a way to heal from the devastating mistakes of her past.

When a chance encounter brings these former lovers together, passion reignites in a way neither is prepared for. Can Garrett move beyond his anger and find a way to forgive? Will Mia’s insecurities and fears cause her to once again flee the life she’s destined to live? Garrett and Mia will soon discover that they must journey into the past to find their way home.

Heartbreaking, Heartwarming Second Chance Romance

Where does Ready for You rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of the best New Adult romances I've listened to this year!

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love the H, Garrett, because he isn't a man-ho like most H's are in similar situations. He knows from the age of 15 that Mia is "the one" for him; and, even though he doesn't see her for 8 years after their HS graduation, he rarely dates during those years because his memory of Mia is so exalted other girls fall way short.

Have you listened to any of Eva Christensen and Kaleo Griffith ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've listened to both of them many times before. Their performance in Ready For You is excellent, as I have found all of their previous narrations to be.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Definitely! When Garrett's father passed away, he delivered an emotional eulogy that had me in tears.

Any additional comments?

I listen to an average of 4 New Adult audiobooks a week and Ready For You is in the upper echelon of the genre. The author, J.L. Berg, wrote a simple story with complex characters that she endears to the readers through the strength of emotion. Nothing about the story is too far-fetched or over-the-top where a reader/listener must suspend disbelief just to enjoy it. Instead, the characters are thoroughly fleshed out to the point where we actually feel as though we know them personally. Throw in the best narration possible and you've got a 5-star success!!! Ready For You is a MUST for those that enjoy listening to New Adult romance.

Great story.....way too much sex scenes

So the moral of this story is when ur depressed...just have lots of sex. I found the sex scenes were way too much. Too much sex not enough substance...actual story line. It seemed every moment they were alone together it always resulted in sex. The actual story was pretty good. High school sweethearts torn apart by tragedy.

Torturous

The overall story was a good one but Mia got on my last nerve!!!! Her self pity party almost drove me to quitting before it ended, on multiple occasions. Thank goodness Garrett kept me wanting to hear how they would come out on the other side.

3.5; Romantic tale; more like teen characters

This love story about Garrett and Mia was a good one. The romance was good, and it had me rooting for them. There were sad parts to their story but nothing that made me cry, and there was a hard-fought-for happy-ending. It was good that everything didn’t come easy to them. It made it all seem more real. The story flowed well and made sense. I really enjoyed having two narrators. And some of the side characters were great additions. Mia and Garrett came together in a supportive community. That was the easy part of the story. The angst and struggle was almost entirely between Mia and Garrett only.

The one aspect I didn’t like was that Mia’s financial ability to buy a house was not explained. And listeners are told she had a “substantial” down payment for an expensive fixer-upper in Virginia, I think. And that she refused to use money from her parents. She bought the house at 26-years of age with money she saved while working as an accountant in Atlanta since graduating college. So the money for the house purchase is barely explained. And that lack of detail and explanation was problematic for me.

Other than that point, I enjoyed the story and didn’t identify any other lapses of continuity. Still, the story was just okay for me. Though I enjoyed some of Mia and Garrett’s joking banter, found their warmth and sexual desire and expression for each other endearing and great to watch, it all remained at the okay level for me. I think it’s because their story always felt like it was about very young people. Most of the story occurs 8 years after they graduate high school. So, presumably, they are about 26 years old. Nonetheless, it often felt like, sounded like, a story about 19 or 20 year olds. The story swings between the present and the past which may have contributed to the story feeling like it was about very young adults. And you have to really be listening to know when the story swings back to the past. I would’ve liked some indication or warning when this was occurring b/c it was confusing to me the first few times. But I finally adjusted, somewhat, and other times, I had to rewind to be sure.

I’m 44 years old. And I prefer stories about more mature—either in age or action or both—characters. So this story might appeal more to a much younger listener.

Not her best

I skipped most of the chapters. I couldn't stand the FL she thinks keeping secrets are ok and she thinks she's the one hurt when she's really the one doing the hurting and running from all her problems. You can listen to the first and last chapters and get the story. I loved the other books and really thought this one was going to be good, so sad.

Extreme Angst

Many novels are depressing, angst ridden. This one is long on angst. I find it too frustrating. With the exception of the language & sex I would label this YA.
Narration; It seems the last 3 books I have purchase have this new way of using two narrators. Before the male voice did the male voice/the female doing female. In my opinion David Baldacci's producers do this the best. I do not like this switch back and forth male voice doing both then female doing both voices. When you are blind you have to assign the voice to the character. This story was not as difficult to separate/figure out. But the other two were confusing for me. I just do not care for this and hope it is not a trend.

The premise was good but it drug on and on and I lost interest … author did everything possible to drag the story on not revealing anything for a long time.

I liked it

It was a enjoyable story. There were moments where the couple seemed very high school, with the two of them jumping to conclusions and what not. But overall it was good. Would give more 3.5/5

Excellent Narration, story not so much

The female narrator was excellent. She’s the reason I got this audible. The male narrator was ok, but he pronounced some words very strangely and threw me off.
The story was not so good. A lot of time jumps with no method of alerting the listener (I.e. “then” “now”) so it was very confusing to figure out what time period they were in. The female MC was selfish and cowardly.
