This is an excellent listen with a bad ass narrator!

I couldn’t stop listening to this! It is an excellent story of the live between two people that spans from the time Valerie is only 15... Flynn falls for her the first time they meet.. but he’s too old and has played the field for so long that her brother warns him off.. When tragedy strikes, Flynn, who left college and became a rising rock star.. comes to her family’s side to help. Valerie is heartbroken when he leaves. Valerie calls for his help again, two years later when she is 18. Flynn decides to come clean with her about everything and tell her he’s been in love with her since they first met, but she was too young and needed to do things for herself then.. now, however, he wants her with him. You’ll want to hear this one! KL Shandwick wrote a wonderful world and strong, loving characters. It’s excellent!

Great performance and story telling

I have mixed feelings about this book. Strong pluses are that it is really well written, and beautifully performed. It was a very slow burn with great momentum to the story throughout the novel. The only downside was this...In romance I usually don't have ANY triggers because I love the fantasy. However, this was so well written and realistic that I ended up felling a little bit of ick about the age difference as there felt like there was some "grooming" happening. Gotta say, that when the worst thing I'm saying is "it's too well written" I can guarantee that I'll be looking for more from this author and eagerly looking for the end of this series. #AudiobookObsessionReviewer

OMG Just wow!

Yalllllll I do not think I was ready for Flynn, this book broke me. Seriously cried real life ugly tears. My husband laughed at me. It was the absolute best emotional roller coaster I have EVER been on. Now I will say, in the beginning the book is a little slow, but then you get into it and it is all so VERY worth every minute of it. But real life, I cried, I laughed, and I was legitimately heartbroken. This is an absolute must read. #audiobookobsessionreviewer

Definitely Ready for Flynn

I listened to this book and if you've delayed reading this series I heartily encourage you to listen to the trilogy. Ann Damman does an excellent job narrating this emotion-filled story. She has a masterful command of various voices so the listener knows exactly who is talking. She definitely has a handle on the emotions of the characters and conveys them much to the listener's delight. I'll be looking for other books narrated by this narrator. This book has been sitting on my TBR and my paperback shelf for all too long. Due limited reading time, I'm always reluctant to start a trilogy, but now that I have started this one, it's full speed ahead. The new adult trope is one I sometimes feel like I've grown out of, but this book proved me wrong because it is a damn good story and beautifully written. KL Shandwick's story is full of family, heartache, and raw emotion. I laughed, I sighed, and I outright cried because of this story. Valerie is an almost sixteen-year-old girl when this book starts. Betrayed by her longtime boyfriend and best friend, she returns after spending time with her recently widowed aunt. Valerie has a very close family and three older brothers who she adores, particularly Martin who is in college. He returns home for Thanksgiving with a college friend in tow, Flynn Docherty. The attraction between them is instantaneous and palpable—though forbidden—due to their age difference. While Flynn has a reputation as a ladies' man, he is respectful of Valerie's age despite his lust. When tragedy befalls the family, it is Flynn, now an up and coming rock star, who helps Valerie through the aftermath. Having lived through his own tragedy and loss allows him to help her come to terms with hers, but again he does the right thing, despite his longing for Valerie. Life goes on, but two years later she calls on Flynn to help her out and all bets are off. At eighteen, she realizes that love at first sight can and does exist, a fact Flynn already knew. She is finally ready for Flynn. Valerie's life experiences forced her to mature and grow up and Ms. Shandwick does an excellent job showcasing her growth and emotions. Flynn is a swoon worthy leading man. He always knew in his heart Valerie was the one for him, but despite his deep feelings for her, he felt he wasn't good enough for her. Though he's a rock star he's respectful of her family, as well as being passionate, loving, protective, and sexy as hell. Their journey is full of pitfalls and people trying to stand in their way. I can hardly wait to start the next book. I have loved each book I have read by KL Shandwick. Her books are emotional and passion-filled and her characters are so well developed they pull the reader/listener into her well-crafted world.

🎶 Songs and their Muses 🎶

This was such a great dive, I didn't feel the amout of time as I followed these characters thru love at 1st sight and the soul wrenching grievance that opened their hearts so we the audience can relise this was never lust but fate intertwining them. aside from a perfect narration as this performer created a unique tenor for each side character, I also enjoyed how the clighanger is one where if you so choose it can end here, I'll definitely continue but it can be a tiresome tactic to end it in certain ways and I was happy to see this author was original on her approach. Love + Loss

Ready For Flynn: Part 1 (Ready For Flynn Series, Book 1) is not your middle-of-the-road Contemporary Rockstar Romance. I love the arrangement and how it spans across many years. The title is quite fitting and reflects the narrative perfectly. The beginning will leave you reeling with intense moments. At, a certain point I was weeping and it left me dazed listening to the rest of this audiobook. I struggled with falling in love with Valerie and Flynn, but I did love Valerie Darsin's family. The writing style is intriguing. The narrative itself is compelling and character's are resilient. It ends with you having questions to where this is going next. Narator Anne Marie Damman brought all the right vibes and gave the characters their own voice. 🎧 Audiobook Obsession 🎧

beautiful, emotional story - excellent narration

I knew before I started listening to this that is was probably going to be a tear jerker......understatement!!  This book was an incredible rollercoaster of emotion.  Did I need tissues?  Absolutely, a whole ton of them. There were times of utter heart-break where I had tears streaming down my face, but it was equally balanced with humour, family banter, drama and an off the charts chemistry between two people who met just a little bit too soon before they were able to really act on it.  I didn’t know very much about the story (other than the blurb) before I started and I’m glad, so I don’t want to give anything away here.  I will say that the story built from the start.  Valerie is very young for a lot of the book - 15/16. Her character really grows and develops throughout even though she only reaches 18 by the end.  She has moments of immaturity in her actions and reactions, but they were totally in context.  She acted her age and I’m pleased the author didn’t try to make her too mature. She felt real and I loved that, even if I didn’t always like what she did and said!  There was so much depth to Flynn, I loved him more and more as the book went along.  He really tried to do the right thing, even though it hurt. With all he went through, he was a beautiful man. I listened to the audio version and loved it, I couldn’t wait to get in my car each day to drive to work so I could listen more. The narrator was excellent and had a lovely expressive voice (all from Valerie’s POV) This was a fantastic start to the series.  It kind of ends on a cliff hanger, but not a huge one but I’m going straight on to part 2. Flynn and Valerie are intriguing, strong, sexy and have such a strong bond.  I can’t wait to find out what happens in their lives next.  Highly recommended!

"Contagious & Addictive"

Valerie and Flynn were contagious & addictive. I was a big fan of Valerie and Flynn throughout the whole book. Although in the beginning Valerie was only 15 and quite mature for her age, but she wasn't ready for Flynn. Throughout the book you can understand why the book was titled; "Ready For Flynn," because that's all that Valerie kept hearing from family and even Flynn. When Valerie was 16 she had tragedy strike that devastated her and put her in a very dark place. And the one person that she never thought she would see again, showed up to be her rock, her strength, to be that shoulder, it was Flynn. He came back wanting to console her through this devastating time. Valerie wanted to hate him because he left her but at that moment she needed his strength. That's why I said that the storyline was so addictive because you find yourself fighting for these two characters to find their way to each other because it was obvious that the love was there. I'm not a big fan of cliffhangers only because you may have to wait awhile to get the 2nd or 3rd book to learn how the story ends, and that's the case here. I'm dying to know how this love story will end. I have so many questions but I know I won't get my answers until Pts. 2 & 3. The narrator Anne Marie Damman was out of this world wonderful world with all the characters!!! She deserves her own 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I can't even think of all the words to cheer for the author K. L. Shandwick and what she brought to the table with book 1. It sounds like words from experience. I now wait for the other 2 books. I can't wait to find out what's happening with my favorite couple. #AudiobookObsessionReview Group🎧

Wait... did you grab the tissues?

Oh… my… word! I seriously was not ready for this story! I didn’t know… I didn’t have any idea what I was getting myself into when I hit play on this audiobook. But there I was sniffling through a big chunk of it. So this here, this is your warning… bring tissues and walk gently because your heart is gonna go bye bye! I like Valerie. The girl has been sheltered her entire life. Sigh, the story is incredible. It’s so full of emotion. So full of heart. And Flynn, I mean, wow! He stole the show and everyone’s heart! Anne Marie Damman was fabulous with this narration. Everything just flowed so well together… the story is a heart breaker and Miss Damman’s voice was a great addition to the story. I’m pretty antsy to listen to part 2! #AudiobookObessession

Reviewed for Audiobook Obsession

Was I ready for Flynn, I have to say no, I wasn’t! This coming of age, age gap, rock star, progressive relationship story, at first perplexed me I kept wondering where is this author going with this story? Never in my wildest imagination did I expect the angst, devastation, overwhelming emotion, that she evoked. I have to say I’m in awe, watching this bratty teenager with a crush evolve into a headstrong woman kudos Ms. Shandwick. I definitely want to see where this story leads. Ann Marie Damman narrated this love conquers all story.

Part 1 of 3

Ready for Flynn 1 introduces you to Valerie Darsin, her family and their friends. She meets Flynn Docherty, a college buddy of her eldest brother and best friend Martin. Valerie is just weeks short of her 16th birthday when she first meets him but the feelings that being near Flynn produces, is anything but childlike. Part 1 takes you through the years from their first meeting until the time Valerie turns 18. Tragedies, successes and temptations form part of these early years both for Valerie and Flynn. I wonder what the future holds...? Oh well, on to Part 2!
