Number-One New York Times Best Seller

The thrilling sequel to the beloved worldwide best seller Ready Player One, the near-future adventure that inspired the blockbuster Steven Spielberg film.

Named One of the Best Books of the Year by the Washington Post

“The game is on again. ... A great mix of exciting fantasy and threatening fact.” (The Wall Street Journal)

An unexpected quest. Two worlds at stake. Are you ready?

Days after winning OASIS founder James Halliday’s contest, Wade Watts makes a discovery that changes everything.

Hidden within Halliday’s vaults, waiting for his heir to find it, lies a technological advancement that will once again change the world and make the OASIS a thousand times more wondrous - and addictive - than even Wade dreamed possible.

With it comes a new riddle, and a new quest - a last Easter egg from Halliday, hinting at a mysterious prize.

And an unexpected, impossibly powerful, and dangerous new rival awaits, one who’ll kill millions to get what he wants.

Wade’s life and the future of the OASIS are again at stake, but this time, the fate of humanity also hangs in the balance.

Lovingly nostalgic and wildly original as only Ernest Cline could conceive it, Ready Player Two takes us on another imaginative, fun, action-packed adventure through his beloved virtual universe, and jolts us thrillingly into the future once again.

No Temple of Doom

This book is absolutely a worthy successor and follow up to ready player one. The expansion on the ideas of what consciousness really means as well as the exploration of identity crossing race gender and even species makes it a worthy read.

WORTH THE WAIT

Without spoiling the story: Parzival and the High5 have to deal with a rogue AI who has infiltrated the OASIS and things get wild!!!
What have we learned from novels and movies, people?!?!?!

4.8 🌟

I really enjoyed this sequel, not as much as the original but it definitely kept me interested. I absolutely loved the narrative of the audio. I don't think I want a movie version of this book since RPO movie wasn't true to the book.

It's all been said by others...

I can appreciate how hard it is to write any book...but too much of the content feels derivative. The ONI and being trapped in the OASIS? Sword Art Online. Digital Consciousness? We are Legion (We are Bob). I actually skipped through the Prince and John Hughes sections they were so verbose. I just wish he could've gotten on with it already. I actually wish this book wasn't published, and I hope they don't make a movie outta this.
Worth listening/reading if you're a fan, just to see what it's about. Be prepared to be disappointed though.

Should have stuck with 1UP

Coming in the heels of Ready Player 1, I was expecting an equally great read. Unfortunately Ready Player 2 felt short and lacked what made Ready Player 1 great.

Narration is off

Among many issues with the book, those of which are personal opinion, the main issue I had with this version of the book, being the audiobook, was the speed of the narration. Although it was a minor issue, it should have been fixed before final release. My main gripe is the speed the book played was too fast. A .9 speed made it better. This was still a tiny bit off. The normal speed seemed rushed and unnatural.

Pronunciation

All the names said about Tolkien’s legendarium were produced very poorly. I cringed so hard every time one was said. Small things like that could have been easily researched and would have made all the difference.

What a journey!

Great sequel to the first book, all the nay sayers were wrong. Get off you pedestals and enjoy the book. Actually kinda hope a third book comes but that won't happen.

a shadow of the first

I loved ready Player one, But this book had far too much unnecessary plot. They seemed to double down on the Fanatic detail and Fun of the 1st book however they appeared to miss the mark. I found myself skipping through 30 seconds at a time just to avoid parts of the book.
The ending was lots of fun however I wish they had taken the ideas identified To form a more unique storyline.
