Publisher's summary

After an altercation with his superiors in Harlan County, Kentucky, Deputy US Marshal Raylan Givens is offered two choices. He can either retire or finish his career on the fugitive task force in the crime-ridden precincts of Detroit.

Acting on a tip, Raylan and his new partner Deputy Marshal Bobby Torres arrest Jose Rindo, a destructive and violent criminal. Rindo is also being pursued by the FBI who arrive shortly after he is in custody. Raylan bumps heads with a beautiful FBI agent named Nora Sanchez, who wants Rindo for the murder of a one of their own.

When Rindo escapes from the county jail and is arrested in Ohio, Raylan and FBI Special Agent Sanchez drive south to pick up the fugitive and bring him back to stand trial. Later, when Rindo escapes again, Raylan and Nora - still at odds - are reunited and follow the elusive fugitive's trail across Arizona to El Centro, California, and into Mexico where they have no jurisdiction or authority. How are they going to bring Rindo, a Mexican citizen, across the border without anyone knowing?

Raylan Goes to Detroit is an exciting continuation of one of Elmore Leonard's greatest heroes, an edge-of-your-seat page-turner in the spirit of Elmore's classic Raylan books.

good read

I loved the story, not a giant fan on the narrator. feels like a true authentic Givens story like we picked up right where we left off!

Nicely done in all respects

Has the true ring of the Elmore Leonard style. BDJ is an excellent reader: accents, women, men, all individual, convincing and accurate. Superb. Do you miss Elmore? Peter and Brian have you covered.

Raylan rides again!

Another quality Raylan Givens story. Not the usual unexpected twists and turns but still a good one. The performance was somewhat underwhelming. The accents, and most of the dialogue was pretty dispassionate and a more lively performance could've made this a more enjoyable listen.

Pretty Good!

Enjoyed it as much as Elmore Leonard. Pretty darn good. His style is very similar to Elmore’s. Just more of Raylan being Raylan.

Just another great story by the master

Whenever I read a book where the story just does not quite come together, or the characters not well-developed, or the dialogue stinted, I come back to Elmore Leonard. Has anyone ever written better dialogue? I do not think so.

A great follow up for Raylan!!

Never disappointing, and moving at a brisk pace. It’s as though Elmore Leonard wrote it himself!
Great job all around.

Justified. Essential Raylan Givens

Interesting. If you liked Justified, you will appreciate this book. This book has funny moments from The Crow family as well as Raylan. Try it out!

Good Story, Flawed Narration

Good story with plenty of visual details and solid action. Peter Leonard is a worthy flag carrier for his father's name.

The audiobook is good except the narrator, Brian D'Arcy James, has no clear idea of how to pronounce Spanish names.
