Publisher's summary

It is AD 935, and Hakon Haraldsson has just wrested the High Seat of the North from his ruthless brother, Erik Bloodaxe. Now, he must fight to keep it. The land-hungry Danes are pressing from the south to test Hakon before he can solidify his rule. In the East, the Uplanders are making their own plans to seize the throne.

It does not help that Hakon is committed to his dream of Christianizing his people - a dream his countrymen do not share and will fight to resist. As his enemies move in and his realm begins to crumble, Hakon and his band of oath-sworn warriors must make a stand in Raven's Feast, the riveting sequel to God's Hammer.

Good story, not a lot if action

The author writes well & the narrator definitely does a good job so those are the 2 most important attributes needed in an audiobook imo. I’d like to see more action though.

Fun book

This was a good bridge story to take me to the end of the trilogy. Still the narration sounds like a nature documentary but a little better than the first....

Witty & lovable characters. Great Narration...

The Second Book was slightly better than the First...
If you are looking for good historical novel that gives a feel for the difficulties in during these turbulent centuries without straying to far from an entertaining story then this series is perfect.

author didn’t do adequate research into the era

The main issue I have is that the author either didn’t do any research for the book or st the very least didn’t do enough research. He badly missed the mark on religión, tactics and more.. another issue is that the author doesn’t understand leadership let alone military leadership. That’s a shame because it’s an integral piece to military/ historical fiction.

that doesn’t matter to you than by all means give it a whirl. You’ll probably enjoy it. The narrator is excellent
