Publisher's summary

For years, Reese has hidden away in his home, refusing to venture out where he might have to face what reminds him of all that he's lost. When Ashton, a human thief, breaks into his home one night, he doesn't have a choice but to face the harsh truths of the world he's turned his back on. He knows he supports the society monsters of myth and lore built upon the backs of humans through his silence, but the new leaders don't tolerate sympathizers.

If a werewolf can't act against the status quo without facing severe consequences, a human with Ashton's cunning and experience circumventing supernatural predators certainly can't risk drawing their attention. Their chance encounter leaves them both shaken and questioning whether they are living life as they were intended...or if surviving is really living at all.

Now that supernatural beings have seized control of the world, life has become a struggle for the humans who once held power. Witches, vampires, and werewolves determine the fate of every single human, but their moral compasses have long since been shattered. Rebels, free humans, and slaves all share dreams of hope, mercy, love, and more. But with their fate so uncertain, survival isn't enough...and they may have to sacrifice what is nearest and dearest to them if they want to change their lives.

Bought, Ravel, and Recoil feature different characters whose lives begin to come together in Owned and Temper. This dystopian series explores different aspects of the world, from utter darkness to the shining lights waiting to emerge. Because of this, the books range from dark erotica to romance to horror to action(ish) to bits of other things in between.

He opened a window into my....

This book is very different from the first book in the series. It features Ashton (a human) who was mentioned in the first book and Reese (a werewolf) whose house Ash breaks into. Ash's friend Leo is sick and Ash had planned to steal things when he broke into Reese's house to help his friend. Being human neither he nor Leo have rights as supernatural creatures rule their society and humans are outcasts and live in poverty or as pets to supernatural beings. Reese surprises Ash with his attitude toward humans but especially his leniency and compassion towards Ash after he catches him in the midst of breaking into his house. I really enjoyed this book so much. There was still the harsh reality of this new world that was portrayed in the first book but also hope and the ability to show trust and forgiveness in the face of betrayal. I highly recommend this book and I look forward to seeing where this series goes from here. I also think Jack Noble did a fantastic job narrating this audiobook.

I won this audiobook but this is my honest review.

Ravel, Fate of the Fallen 2

I loved this part of the Fate of the Fallen series. Ashton just might have moved up to being my favorite character now.. Sorry, Elias *hangs head in shame* In a world that hates humans and treats them like dirt or worse. His personality is like a ray of sunshine that never dims. Ashton is a thief, but only steals when it’s really needed, to keep him and his friend safe and alive. He tries to steal from the rich and ends up in the loner werewolf Reese’s home. Asher’s plans totally backfire on the both of them in the best of ways. Reese and Ashton have an undeniable instant connection in times when it is definitely not the best thing to happen for either of them. Reese doesn’t want a human slave or pet. And Ashton doesn’t want to be owned. I love that neither of them can really deny their instant bond no matter how hard they both try to. I just want more of these two men. Their story cannot be finished.

Audio – I think Jack is a great pick for this series. He really gets us into the story with his narration. I think he does a great job with the timbre and accents he gives us matching up the personalities of each individual character to the correct inflection and emotion in his voice. I enjoyed this book just as much as his narration for the first book of the series. And I will definitely be adding the next to my purchase list as well.

Absolutely Marvelous Series, Jack Noble is Perfect

I'm so very glad to have discovered this series! The premise of the story is unique, creative, and addicting. I absolutely refuse to read the blurbs for the books ahead, but I know something amazing is coming... Just the way R. Phoenix is setting up the characters, I can't wait till they meet up and clash!

Also, I really have to give huge props to Jack Noble. His gorgeous accent is incredibly appealing, and the smooth, steady pace of his narration is perfect for this story.

If you're a fan of paranormal stories, with a dark, erotic edge, then Fate of the Fallen is a must!

I was given this audiobook by the author for the purpose of my honest review.

Loved it so much ♡

Ashton is a human in a world where humans are considered less than objects or sex toys for the pleasure of the other supernatural creatures. Needing to help his best friend, Leo, who is really sick, he decided to enter the home of a werewolf to stole something to sell for some money for the cures of his friend. But the plan wasn't for sure to get caught by the werewolf himself, Reese. Fortunately for Ash, Reese isn't like the other creatures, he's willing to help Ashton and his friend. But for the human is still too hard to believe that the supernatural creature won't end up killing them, or worse, transforming them in his personal slaves. Because of these thoughts that keep tormenting Ash, he will think about breaking the trust Reese is giving him. Reese seems like "one of a kind" for his species, because the way he's immediately ready to help the humans, an I can't wait to see how his character will develop in the next books. And Ashton is really a brave guy, ready to do anything to help his friend, the kind of character you can't not love. Same as with Reese, I can't wait to know what the future holds for him ♡

Love it!

In a world where the supernatural rule supreme and humans are treated as nothings, either left to fly in slums, forced into slavery, or discarded like trash, two men find love with each other.
Ashton is a human, doing what he must to survive and trying to keep his best friend Leo alive. He chooses to steal from a well off house and gets caught by Reese, the werewolf homeowner. Unlike other Sups, Reese decides to help the thief and his ill friend, remembering how he lost his lover because no one helped. And soon he finds himself growing more and more attached to the human. But can they really have anything in a world like this? And can Reese trust a thief?

I enjoyed the story of Ashton and Reese and the originality of the story. It is a quick read but highly entertaining and never boring.

The Narrator has a great voice to listen to and gave each character personality. Definitely recommended.

Great Paranormal Book, Performance Not So Great

I really enjoyed the story. However, the reader lost me so many times that I had to rewind the book several times to get back on track. The reader sounded like he was in a well or digitizing his voice. I didn't feel like he gave much feeling to the characters. I could be wrong. It's really a preference thing. I would recommend this book, but not in audio format.
