A user guide

A user guide was written by the person who created it. This goes into all the aspects of the raspberry pi you'll ever need to know.

Good basic book for starting PI user

I've been building projects with Raspberry Pi 3 for a while. I've listen to a couple of books and a bunch of internet webpages and thought it would be nice to revisit the basics. This book definitely covers the basics. If you want to get started with the Raspberry PI in a nice organized, thoughtful way, then this is a good starting place.

This is a basic book for beginners. If you have no experience with Linux or no Raspberry PI here - this is a good starting place. If you are somewhat familiar with a PI, then you probably should find a more advanced book.

A must have in anyones Pi reference library.

As with any good technical book, there are both a table of contents and a comprehensive index to assist you in locating what you are interested in learning. This was an interesting read and will serve as a reference for future work as well.

The very best starting point for learning Raspberr

This latest edition of the Raspberry Pi user guide is, without a doubt, the essential information source for those who want to learn the basics ( and much more ) about this remarkable single board computer. Eben Upton does a superior job of keeping the reader interested while imparting the kind of knowledge that makes the learning experience a rewarding one. Explanations are clear and detailed, and nothing is left out. If you're interested in exploring the Raspberry Pi - even if you have little to no prior knowledge going in - this is the book you should buy first. Highly recommended!

Really Great Overview

A good general text for learning how to use the Raspberry Pi system. Wiley books are always a good bargain.

Best one

Also, some reviewers have complained about the figures in this book but I have the Kindle version and the figures are great. On a tablet, they are in color and can be zoomed. So, I have no complaints and strongly recommend this as a first Pi book.

I enjoy this book

I am so grateful for this book. I bought it for the same reason that I buy most of my books: reading pleasure. I got the Pi with the intent of doing practical and useful things with it but also as a fun toy, a new hobby, something to learn with. And this book completes my fun starter kit, satisfying both the practical needs and the fun/learning part. It is well written with excellent intro material, including the history and philosophy behind the Pi.

Great Guide here!

Well written but not enough detail for me. There were some cookbook instructions but it was largely just an exposition of the Raspberry Pi's features, almost like a very verbose sales brochure.

This book will make you an RPI3 power user

This book is completely RAD! It contains information on choosing and installing the right operating system on your RPI3, lessons on wiring your RPI to devices such as switches, motors, and LEDs, detailed step-by-step instructions on creating your own media streaming device to turn your old HDMI TV or monitor into a smart TV that can connect to your home media server, turning your RPI3 into a retro gaming emulator, and even building your own arcade cabinet. This book has way more useful hobbyist information than I imagined, and I never thought that the "purchased together with" section on Amazon would prove so useful. A+

This is really a fantastic reference for me.

I adore how this book laid out the information. It provides a simple, easy to follow and practically sound approach to computer programming for a beginner like me. I have learned a lot of things about Python programming which I haven't learned when I was in college. This is really a fantastic reference for me.

Excellent Book

I must say that the written part of the python code for Raspberry Pi, and all necessary codes for web application are something really special, because while I was reading the book I looked up a few terms on Google-u, and did not notice that someone wrote about it when writing generally about Raspberry Pi
