Publisher's summary

Raine's old boyfriend Andy Fontana is back in town...and at the top of the FBI's Ten Most Wanted List. With a fortune in diamonds hidden somewhere in the wilderness, several recent acts of eco-terrorism and an unsolved murder laid at Andy's door, the feds turn to Raine Stockton, with her unsurpassed knowledge of the mountains and her reputation as a wilderness tracker, to help bring Andy to justice. The only problem is that Raine still believes Andy is innocent...

With the help of Cisco, her golden retriever, Raine must uncover the truth about the man she once loved and uncover a killer in the process.

Love Dog Stories

Love the story the way it was written and the way it was told .The person who told the story gave it a lot of timely emotion. I don't want to be the spoiler so it's a great read!

First Rate

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

If you love dogs, you will love these mysteries!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The plot keeps you guessing.

Which character – as performed by Donna Postel – was your favorite?

Sonny is probably my favorite character. She is smart and courageous even though she has a life altering disease.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I could not wait to finish and move on to the next book.

Too much obsession

The second edition of the Raine Stockton dog mysteries dropped a notch from the initial book in my opinion due to to Raine's weird obsession with her college boyfriend turned eco terrorist Andy Fontana whom she hasn't seen in fifteen years. She hides information from her uncle the sheriff; her deputy ex-husband; whom she inexplicably is enraged with for 'allowing' the FBI and Homeland Security to search her house after Fontana had broken into it. In fact she's pissed off at her ex-husband Buck Lawson for pretty much everything that Andy Fontana has done or set into motion.
Back from the initial book in the series are Maude, Sonny, Uncle Ro, and of course the four legged members of the cast Cisco, Mystery, and the two Australian Shepherds. Dexter Franklin also makes another appearance as a villain. This is an excellent follow up mystery despite the aforementioned self perceived weaknesses.

Right on

If you could sum up Rapid Fire in three words, what would they be?

I have dogs and Donna Ball has great insight into dog behavior as she weaves that through a mystery set in beautiful country. I like it when a book keeps me guessing as well as makes me chuckle.

Really enjoyed this story. Dogs, humor, mystery and personal interaction.

This has been my favorite of the Raine Stickton mysteries so far. I know we are not supposed to assign human emotions to pets but sometimes it just is that way.

A Little Heart-Breaking

A sad and nerve wrecking tail. No dogs in danger during this mystery. Interesting facts about mountain wildlife and forestry. A little heart-breaking, especially with the tearing out of the forest and mountain to be replaced by industry.
