Publisher's summary

When social media becomes the ultimate tool of terror....

Teenager Amanda Castle was like a lot of people, posting pictures of her everyday life to a variety of social media sites. Not everyone who viewed her pictures was there to share in her experiences. One was there to steal her profile pictures.

A terrorist in Frankfurt was desperate to please his leadership. He planned the perfect attack, one in which vulnerable people would be invited through social media to participate in a flash mob. There, the unwitting participants, thinking they were taking part in a random act of kindness, would find themselves engaged in a random act of terror.

His ultimate plan: take the attack to America.

Using Amanda's pictures and the name CamaroChick19, the terrorist attempts to manipulate an unstable and socially-isolated young man named Victor into a position where he will be blamed for the attack. When the friendless Victor becomes obsessed with CamaroChick19, his tenuous grip on reality snaps and his life begins to violently unravel. Before the world closes in on him, Victor is determined to track down Amanda Castle and make her pay for everything that has gone sideways in his life.

Great Book!! Just like all the others!!

I’ve read every book Horton has published. All of the are beyond excellent and this book is no exception. The books are fast paced and keep you wanting more...I know it’s cliche but true. The great thing about this guy (Franklin Horton) is his work ethic. Not only does he keep putting out high quality stories and enlists the absolute BEST narrator in Kevin Pierce, he keeps putting books out at about two or so per year while having a “day job.” Also the storylines are interesting and the dialogue is real to the situation. You seriously can’t go wrong. I recommend all his books two million percent. Thanks Mr. Horton.

Good!

I was on the fence for about half the book. It seemed convoluted and scattered. Felt like too much trying to be crammed into a book but it pulled through and was captivating till the end. Enjoyed the narration. Definitely recommend.

Great book! I really enjoyed the way the author develops the characters. It truly makes the story seem plausible and real which is what I like in a thriller!

In this day and age..it could happen

A decade ago, I would have said that this is a very implausible plot line. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case. When introduced to the characters from widely disparate lives, I couldn't imagine how the author would be able to bring them together. And then he does. What results is a harrowing, and probably fatal, clash, for all involved. I'd love to tell you how it happens, but I think that would spoil it for people starting to or thinking of reading the book. I will respectfully allow you to be surprised as it happens. The author draws us into the lives of each of the characters, each struggling to make sense of his and her lives, and makes you interested in them. The book is a fast paced thriller centered around people desperately trying to make sense of their lives as they spin out of control. (It's hard writing a review when you don't want to reveal ANY part of the plot line in order not to spoil it for potential readers!!!) I enjoyed this book very much. It's really easy to listen to and didn't have any gaps in the action. I look forward to listening to another book written by this author.

Just the thought...

I read a lot of post apocalyptic, psycho thrillers and Zombie Books. THIS book unnerved me more than any of them. Yeah, it's good.

Better Than The NYT Best Thrillers!

Franklin Horton found the most amazing pacing and character development. There was never a moment of going "hmm mm" "this is not plausible! I have not read or listened to anything that had such a complex dependency on characters that was so real! I kept waiting for the "Cookie Cutter" easy outs. NONE! I will not disclose a play-by-play of the book because you need to relax and enjoy. I normally do not rave about books, but this to me ranks just as I high as the mainstream authors I follow. I would be remiss if I do not say, Kevin Pierce made this book a TEN ! He never gets in the way of the story, but lets you embrace the book, while luxuriating in his perfect soothe narration. And no Mr. Pierce, I am not stalking you on social media.( A hint about the book!)
I had this book on my "Wish List" and was was pleasantly surprised when I had the opportunity to review. I was going to buy it because the author and narrator are so good! If you look at my profile I have tons of books! I do not recommend lightly! The combination of Franklin Horton and Kevin Pierce should not be missed! You will not regret it!

Great story!

I was hesitant to get this book because it's not the type of book I'm accustomed to from Franklin Horton but I'm glad I didn't pass on it. Once I got into the story, I was invested in the characters. Between Gamma Ray and Victor I'm starting to think the author has a vendetta against gamers though!

Riviting Book

Random Acts" had me from the very beginning. It's a fast-paced story of how social media is manipulated to ensnare users in dangerous situations they simply weren't looking for. The cautionary tale shines a light on the dangers of oversharing, terrorism, and getting too close to online-only friends you've never actually seen or met. I really enjoyed how Horton created sympathy in the reader for even the worst people in the story, the most unsympathetic of characters. His attention to individual feelings and the cause & effect relationship between feelings and events in the story adds a human element to this thriller that thoroughly develops the characters and send the story over the top.
I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
Excellent book with a lot of reality, scary as it could really happen to any of us. Highly recommend!

Kevin Pierce was outstanding with the delivery of the story
