A Charming Book and Still Relevant

My 6 year old granddaughter and I listened to this twice while on a car trip. My granddaughter is still talking about the book and named one of her dolls Ramona. Even though the kindergarten of 30+ years ago is quite different from today's kindergarten, there is still a universal appeal that connected to my granddaughter and helped her deal with some of her own kindergarten concerns. The narrator does a lovely job.

Stockard Channing hits it out of the park

What did you love best about Ramona the Pest?

Story a great classic. I felt such sympathy for Ramona throughout; she reminds me so much of my own daughter with ADHD and many small children today. It definitely makes you see things through a child's perspective. Stockard Channing did a terrific job on narrating. All the voices she did were pitch perfect, from the Southern belle teacher to Ramona herself, Ramon's mother, etc. It is a wonder she never got confused, but each voice was slightly different and all were good.

What did you like best about this story?

Story plus narration were both just excellent. My 6 year old loved it. Not one particular thing I loved best.

Which scene was your favorite?

Can't remember a particular favorite. Most of the stories were very good.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

No. I don't recall being "moved". Some sections are funnier than others, but I don't remember crying or feeling emotional.

Any additional comments?

Also loved the Henry Huggins books from Beverly Clearly as narrated by Neil Patrick Harris. Strongly recommend.

Ramona is a pest

Ramona gets her way with every thing at home. But at school she gets sent to time out twice and sent home one time. Howie is boring! Overall, I thought this book was very entertaining and well written.

Takes me back to first grade

This makes me think of when my first and second grade teacher read it to me. It was pretty crappy when Ramona got punished for pulling Susan’s hair. I can relate to how Ramona must’ve felt. Even though the only siblings I have are step siblings and one foster sister, I know how hard it must be to feel noticed. I’ll cherish this story to my future kids.

Just like old times

I used to listen to this just about every night before I went to bed as a child. Stockard Channing does a great job with her voices. I listened to it again the other night and it gave me such a warm feeling.
