Publisher's summary

In New York Times best-selling author Chantal Fernando's latest novel in the Wind Dragons Motorcycle Club series, Rake - baddest of the bad boys - gets his own romance at last!

Rake is known for being up for anything, in and out of the bedroom. He's wild, he's deadly, yet quick with a joke or a stolen kiss. Known as the player of the WDMC, he loves women - the more the merrier. However, behind his womanizing façade, Rake hides the pain of losing his first love, Bailey. He hasn't loved anyone since and doesn't think he ever will.

Seven years after their split, Rake and Bailey run into each other at the MC's favorite club. Old wounds resurface, secrets are spilled...and passionate feelings are awakened. But they've each done things to hurt the other, hurt them too badly to get over it - haven't they? Only when Bailey's connection to Rake puts her in danger from another Club member does he realize that there's nothing he won't do to protect her - and claim her as his once again.

Second chance love with some pretty big coincidences

Poetic justice in a very cute epilogue. Would like to have had a whole book of that with duet performances by Sebastian York and Eve Christensen. Maybe a few future books with the kids grown up and a visit with the maturing parents.
In this book, Sebastian York’s narration is still very infrequent, as in books 2 & 3 but sprinkled throughout the book as quick treats.

Once again, this book like others in the series, is mostly from the female POV and could have been greatly improved had it been edited down to include more of the male’s POV. This could have provided an much needed balance, if it refrained from the repetitive litany of betrayal and guilt. More depth of character development with these alpha guys would prove interesting and allow for a richer narrative. In Rake/ Adam’s case, how about genuine appreciation to the love of his life, his sister, his brothers, and especially the little girl he instantly is captivated by. No exploration of how he feels confronted by the polite mini Bailey except through the nickname he gives her. Also both Bailey and Adam’s extreme reactions to the incident that caused their initial breakup were a somewhat incredulous though the drama and mistrust went to the heart of the story. It seems pretty unbelievable that Bailey would suddenly go overboard in that kind of behavior after that kind of an event, and that Adam would not even wonder about the whys of what went down in 7 years given his depth of feeling for her but piggishly react. Also even this Bailey being out of town for a bit and then not getting out much with a baby, she goes to university for her teaching degree and worked in a bar ( where some mutual acquaintance would have seen her) yet they are not running into each other during all that time and then suddenly bumping into each other? What size is this “ town?” Also the violence with little legal consequence is sad and surprisingly ignored even though it could be addressed at times with Fae’s character. Only Arrow has had to do long prison time. In addition, while the clear disgust for hard drugs is cheering, nobody appears concerned with the risky sexual behavior and potential for STDs, HIV, or even AIDs, or the high potential for several members to become alcoholics, though designated driving is promoted. You would think at least one of these might of been a stated concern for someone getting involved with one of these guys let alone considering embracing the life style. These “only from Audible” presentations have ok authors but need higher quality editors to be sustainable. They are clearly b level fiction- not great literature-and fun in short doses but with a little investing could be so much better. Also if you hire good narrator you should uses them to the fullest advantage and not short change the listener. Fortunately the whole series for now is included in the Escape Package. This is worthy of a listen as “escapist” and romantic Fantasy if you have the package or have read the first 2 books and are curious about the characters and want to obtain through a sale but not worth a full credit.

Rake finally settles down!

I’m surprised Rakes story is a second chance romance, but I guess it makes sense that he became a womanizer after he thinks his first love betrayed him. Bailey and Adam (Rake) were high school sweethearts until a horrible night when Rake thought she betrayed him, but in truth he destroyed her. Somehow, they both have lived in the same town but never ran into each other until one night at Rift when Bailey reconnects with Anna and Lana. When some biker drama happens, Bailey is sucked into their world just by her association with Rake.
I’m torn on this book, I want to really like it, but there were some parts that really annoyed me. There were some definite moments where Bailey’s decision making skills nearly made me want to throw my kindle. The best part might have to be the epilogue, I really want to hear about Rett and Cara when they are older!

Eva Christensen did an amazing job narrating. It was good to hear her voice Irish again, since his own story had a different narrator.

My favorite, of the series

I always love 💕 a story of second chances. To top it off, it is a story of a first love being everlasting love. Of course, there is a misunderstanding that has to be cleared up and ugly feelings of jealousy and hurt, to endure, but they get their HEA in the end. I was glad that this book included an epilogue that gave a glimpse of their future. I think this has been my favorite book, in the series, so far.

4.5 Stars!

What did you love best about Rake's Redemption?

I loved getting to know Bailey. She is a strong heroine who despite what she has been through is able to create a great life for herself.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Rake's Redemption?

Most memorable moment was the epilogue. I don't want to spoil it but I will say I hope that Chantal continues on with the characters, that last scene brought a smile to my face.

What does Eva Christensen and Sebastian York bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The book is told mostly in Baileys POV and having Eva narrate was great. She changes her voice according to the characters age, gender, and even does accents! I would miss all that just with reading alone. The chapters we do get from Rakes POV have Sebastian York and that man can do sexy and alpha like no other.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed, I swooned and I was left feeling really excited for future books. The beer pong scene was one of many that had me laughing and was a good reminder that the Wind Dragon ladies should not be underestimated.

Any additional comments?

If you are looking for a MC series with kick a** heroines and yummy alphas then this series is definitely for you!

Cute!

Cutest ending ever! Loved the time jump and how protective Rake is over his angel! Hope there's a book for the future generation. I want to read about Cara and Rhett!

Rake is my fave so far

I think this is my fave so far in the series. Rake picked my interest from book 1 and was thinking that there was a reason for his ways. Bailey is such a great character, strong and sweet. Finding out what really happened all those years ago that split them apart was quite shocking for Rake, my heart was breaking for both of them. I think that was the turning point for their relationship, although the journey is quite eventful and scary at times, I am glad it ended in the well-deserved HEA for both. The epilogue was AWESOME, I laughed out loud.
It was great to see some of the other characters and finding out more about them after they got their HEA in the previous books. I can't wait to listen to the next story.
Ms. Christensen is becoming one of my fave voices, she modulates it so well to fit the characters and situations and I like it that is consistent throughout the series. Mr. York gets some air time too, not much, but it works. Love his voice, he can do Alpha quite well LOL
