Publisher's summary

He wants to claim his mate. She wants to catch a killer. Neither saw the other one coming....

Welcome to the future. In post-apocalyptic America, humans are protected by the Stone Society, a species of Gargoyle shapeshifters. Rafael Stone is the king, and his clan has ruled the Americas for over 700 years, unbeknownst to humans.

Kaya Kane is the New Atlanta Chief of Police. At 36, not only is she the youngest but also the first female chief the city has ever had. She has dedicated her life to keeping her city safe. When all evidence in a multiple homicide points to the elusive Rafael Stone, Kaya cannot figure out if she wants to arrest him or climb his large, hard body.

Rafael's kind has never mated with a human, but just speaking to Chief Kane on the telephone nearly brings Rafe to his knees. Kaya has given up on ever having a relationship because of her career. When the two meet, sparks fly. Literally. When someone tries to kill Kaya, Rafael has no choice but to show his true nature.

Gargoyle pnr

This was a fun listen. I really love the concept of the Stone Society and am eager to see what comes next. I enjoyed the narration, I didn’t love it but it was still good. I have many more questions when it comes to this story so I better grab the next one.

Well written and well performed!

The characters are well thought out and brought to life. It held my attention through the whole story. The narrator is awesome with a nice range of voice characterizations. And such a nice deep voice!

Looking forward to more from the series.

Really enjoyable

I read this quite a while ago and enjoyed the story, having listened to it narrated by Mace Earl Finn I loved it even more.
I really do enjoy a shifter book, Goyles do not get enough wrote about them.
Mace had a deep timber voice which really does lend itself to this genre of story.
Listen to a sample you won’t be disappointed.

Ok story

Ok, I was not a fan of the narrator. The female voice was not believable.

Entranced by this voice

I really liked this narrators voice. I could listen to him for hours and hours!
This is the first book I have read from this author and I loved it! I fell in love with each of the characters portrayed. They all had strong personalities and I look forward to reading about each of them.
This book is about Police Chief Kaya and the king of the gargoyles in the New Atlanta area. There is an over arching plot about an evil military man who creates clone-like beings that once transformed into monsters can't change back to human. These beings are called the "unholy".
This book kept me enthralled through every page.

Kaya and Rafael

I purchased this as an ebook first back in June 2017 and for some reason didn't get around to reading it although the plot line intrigued me so when I saw it was now on Audible I decided to listen to it instead.

The main storyline is intriguing and well written and the characters are interesting and well-drawn. Rafael is a 500-year-old Gargoyle, his family line is Italian but he chooses to live in the US. He's the King of the Gargoyles and is surrounded by many family members. Some of them work with humans, some work within the Stone Corporation but all of them keep what they are a closely guarded secret.

Kaya is the Chief of Police, she's a strong independent woman who comes to Rafe's attention when she is investigating a mass murder where the bodies were dumped at one of his many properties. Was Rafael involved?

As far as Rafe knows no Goyle has mated with a human, but as soon as he hears her voice over the phone he knows he has to meet her, when he does he knows that she's his mate and sets about trying to find out if a mating like his has ever occurred before. She for her part feels drawn to him and agrees to see him even though technically he may be a suspect in her case.

The plot line is complicated, with lots of action and suspense, and it involves many sub-plots which are setting the scene for more to come I'm sure. Several of the characters involved in the story are keeping secrets and some have decisions to make which will affect not only their lives but the lives of others. A lot of questions are left unanswered who committed the murders, why were the bodies left on his property? I hope to find the answers to these questions in the next books. The main plot has suspense, romance chemistry and love, as well as action, intrigue and murder. Can a mating between a Gargoyle and a human work? Will others of his kind find their mates? Will Kaya accept what he is or will she run from what he offers?

Rafe is a great character, he's a great leader and is loved and respected by everyone in his clan/family to Kaya he is loving and gentle but willing to die to protect her. Kaya for her part is strong and independent, but is she strong enough?

The narration of this book by Mace Earl Finn was very well done and added to my enjoyment of the story.

Love of Stone

I really enjoyed listening to this story. The narrator has a deep sexy voice that I loved listening to him narrating. He really brought all the males in the story to life for me. although the female voices were a little too deep I had no trouble telling between the females and males voices.
This is a love at first sight type of story. The chemistry between Rafael and Kaya was electric from the start. I am thrilled that gargoyle romances are becoming more common and this series will be a great addition to that trope. I enjoyed how Ms. Gibson entwined several stories into this series and this is a great start to great new series. I am looking forward to reading/listening to the rest of this series.

Love me some Gargoyles!

I read this book several years ago and absolutely loved it. My favorite shifters are Gargoyles so this book is right up my alley. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed this story, but listening to it brought it to a whole new level and I loved it. I think this is a great start to the series and I can’t wait to find out what happens to the rest of the gargoyles. I’m especially interested in learning more about Jasper.

I really enjoyed the narrator and thought his deep voice for the gargoyles was perfect. He definitely brought the characters to life and helped give them even more depth. I would listen to more audios by Mace Earl Finn.
