Publisher's Summary

A special seasonal installment of the ongoing correspondence between sparring pen-pals Vera (played by Patricia Routledge) and Irene (played by Prunella Scales). With a supporting cast including Vera's son Howard and his partner Anthony, chaos looks set to descend once again upon Little Shagthorne and Hethergreen.

Ladies of Letters

Witty, fast paced, vicious. Love ALL the Ladies of Letters stories!!! Each of the episodes have something new to offer, but basically follow the same formula. Nightmare families and impossible senior citizens. Who could fail to be amused?

I could listen to this forever!

Two splendid performers getting their teeth into a well- written script. It never gets old.

I simply MUST try that trifle recipe

Oh, how I love these women! In all their catty sniping and mangled language, they always manage to make me laugh. Vera and her bizarre recipes, Irene and her excessive drinking, and the ongoing drama of their impossible children... so glad I can enjoy the shenanigans without actually having to deal with these crazy people. I simply must try the Cod with Dildo and Vera's trifle, where every ingredient is mixed with brandy.
