Willow Davis has one semester left before she walks across that NYU stage and achieves her dream of becoming a student at Columbia medical school. However, before her final semester even starts, a death in the family leaves Willow spiraling.

Feeling the need to rebel by drinking, smoking, and out of character spontaneity, RIP, LOL follows Willow on her struggles with dissociation and depression. Will she put on a brave face and be the perfect student and perfect daughter she’s always been? Or, will she isolate herself from her close friends, loving family, and her future plans?

Critic reviews

"RIP, LOL is a searingly honest examination of grief, and all the ways it detonates our plans. Complete with a cast of twenty-something Brooklynites you want to be your besties, a peek into Gen Z’s Bushwick, and some particularly fire bodega sandwiches — Khaya Fraites holds a magnifying glass up to our most human edges and gives us lasting hope that we might find our missing pieces." - Haley Jakobson Author of "Old Enough"

This book is the perfectly balanced juxtaposition of levity + depth, light + dark, and loss + hope. It has plenty of fun pop culture references expertly included, but the real oomph of what makes is relatable is the exquisite honesty about life and grief, particularly in one's early to mid-twenties. And of course, the performance is nothing short of the top tier excellence we can only ever expect from the deeply talented Khaya Fraites. And special commendations to her audiomastering crew on a wonderfully mastered piece! A beautiful, beautiful story. Well done, Khaya and congratulations on your first published book!!

The author narrated this book with exceptional skill and also adding sound effects. This book really shows how grief can shape the choices we make both in the moment and for our future

We all grieve differently

grief messes you up in so many ways that nobody wants to talk about, but you still carry it with you. Khaya did such a wonderful job portraying that, both in her writing and in her performance as a voice actor. one of my favorite reads of the year!!

incredible representation of grief
