Publisher's summary

Gadda masters Italian dialects

As well as police detective genre. The book is also a marvelous description of Italy during 'il ventennio'. I loved the epithets used for Mussolini and how Gadda ridicules him and his arrogance. Gifuni is the cherry on the top of the cake, he acts majestically the deeds of Ingravallo and colleagues.
