Publisher's Summary

Rosie Maldonne is outspoken and sexy. She's also unemployed, and, with three children and a cat, life is a little tough. The four of them - well, five, if you count the cat - live in the South of France, in a run-down trailer near a vacant lot. They make do, living off her part-time waitressing job and a little help from the state.

Rosie thinks things are finally turning around when she meets handsome police officer Jérôme - until she realizes that his appearance coincides with her friend Véro's disappearance. Then, something even stranger happens: Rosie finds a package with a crazy amount of money in the trash can of a fast-food joint. With so much going on, Rosie has some big questions: Where is Véro? Is Jérôme too good to be true? Who put all that cash in the trash? And what happens when they want it back?

Rose Is A Different Type of Character

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I'd give this book a solid C, it wasn't great nor was it horrible. I don't regret the time it took to listen to it, but I do not believe I will carry on with the series if another book is published.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I'm not exactly sure of the book's audience. Is it for adults? teens? I checked the audible path and it wasn't listed under teens or young adults, so I'm going to assume it was for adults. The dialogue in the book frequently became childish (and i'm not referring to when the children are speaking). Maybe something was lost in translation.

Which character – as performed by Carly Robins – was your favorite?

I guess my favorite character would be the main character Rose aka Cre-Cre. The narrator did a fabulous job! The character Rose is the personification of the phrase "Nobody puts Baby in the corner." She's definitely a force that you cannot ignore.

Was Queen of the Trailer Park worth the listening time?

It was a fun listen! I can suspend realities for books, but these many of these scenarios were so unrealistic that I couldn't help but roll my eyes sometimes.

Narrator was fine, story was a little lagging

It was hard to keep my interest with the storyline. Hard to stay engaged with the story, although it got better toward the end.

What the heck is the plotline????

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

If you like hormonal, batsh*t crazy characters, you'll love this book. If you like books where the characters make actual sense, the plotline makes sense, and there is a flow of storyline...DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK!

What do you think your next listen will be?

Anything not written by Alice Quinn

Which scene was your favorite?

The part where it says "This is Audible..."

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The narrator is good.

Any additional comments?

This book should be free. It's not worth 1.99 I paid when I got the kindle version of the book.

A strange one.....

What disappointed you about Queen of the Trailer Park?

What was the point of setting the story in the South of France, it may as well have been Detroit, for all the Frenchness observed? The translation into 'American' rather than English was a struggle for me, particularly the weird references to the British Monarchy, British culture and the misinterpretation of song lyrics. And there was no trailer park. I was hoping for Stephanie Plum on the Cote d'Azur with loads of French atmosphere alongside the quirky characters and humour, no such luck. The characters here were just annoying, all of them, particularly the lisping daughter.

Has Queen of the Trailer Park put you off other books in this genre?

No, Janet Evanovich is ace

What didn’t you like about Carly Robins’s performance?

Way too strident for me

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Queen of the Trailer Park?

The ridiculous section about the Queen

Any additional comments?

Could have been good, maybe it came across better in the original French version? I some how doubt it though.
