well worth a read - very thorough

really enjoyed this foray into 24 days of the life of queen victoria, painting a "warts and all" picture of a woman who oversaw so many shifts and changes (good and bad) so you're constantly changing your mind about how you feel about her. Lucy W's writing style is really enjoyable and her passion shines through as usual for really leaving no stone unturned when examining Victoria, her strengths and weaknesses, and her life.

Thank you Lucy Worsley - Fascinating

I'm so glad I listened to this amazing insight into the person behind a name I've known for all my life. I still find it hard to accept the things she is credited with and see her, as I think I always have, as simply the person who gave her name to a period of history. A time when when an insignificant little group of islands, in the top corner of the Atlantic Ocean and just off the coast of Europe ruled the largest Empire the world had ever and will ever know. As with all empires, it has gone and, no matter what people of the early 21st Century believe it can never return. Victoria was a figure head of those times and I'm pleased to have personally known people who lived through them, enabling me to learn, first hand, of the era. For myself however, this biography has filled in gaps and confirmed many longheld suspicions as to the person held in such esteem. Thank you Lucy Worsley.

Excellent read and brilliant narration

I couldn't stop listening to this book! At first I was unsure whether I'd finish a nearly 14-hour book exclusively about Queen Victoria, but Lucy's narrative voice is so lively and engaging that I finished wishing there was even more. The biography goes much deeper than a mere factual account of Victoria's life, introducing us to the queen on a much more personal level. Lucy Paterson's narration was captivating and truly adds to the whole experience.

Fascinating!

Beautifully written - and does exactly what a well researched biography should do, in my view, not only tell you things you were unaware of, but make you look at the person in entirely new ways! A masterpiece!

I love anything Lucy Worsley writes

This was beautifully narrated and easy to become absorbed in the life of Victoria. It seems to me that the listener was given insight into the many aspects of the queens life and loves without being forced to like or dislike her.
