Publisher's summary

The ancient merchants of Tyre sailed the high seas and plumbed their depths in search of a rare shellfish, valued for its rich, purple dye. The Greek word kalchaino, to ponder, literally means in search of the purple fish.

Like the search for the purple fish, Jesus goes to remarkable lengths in seeking after his most valued treasure lost, broken, hurting, oppressed people. He invites us on a grand adventure to help him connect with these purple fish too.

In this inspiring, practical book, Mark O. Wilson offers a fresh, new approach for sharing Christ with others, especially for those who feel inadequate and intimidated by witnessing. Purple Fish shows how it can be a delightful adventure of faith, filling your own soul in the process.

Through amazing and often humorous stories as well as many practical suggestions Wilson encourages the reader to rethink what it means to bring lost people to Jesus. It will leave readers saying, I haven t thought of it that way before. I can do that!

Thought provoking

I felt this book started out with a lot of great illustrations. if you get be on some of the churchy words, you can see the love and compassion. I was grateful for those illustrations and he second half of the book is the more practical application.

It's in the details

I enjoyed the stories but wished there might have been a little more direct input regarding the subject matter. One situation that I found a little disturbing is that in the stories there was an incident where God's name is used as an expletive. Considering this book was to cover the subject matter of sharing the gospel I found it a little strange and perhaps a little disturbing. Overall the stories and performance were entertaining but a little less informative then I was hoping.

Super Encouraging!

I enjoyed the stories and encouragement given throughout the book. When I started reading this book I didn’t have much courage to share the gospel and it was a daunting thought in my mind but now I look forward to my next encounter to share Jesus with someone. So many good tips!

The Best I've Listened to About Jesus and Gospel

PURPLE FISH is the best audiobook I've listened to on teaching the gospel and Christ. It's not preachy at all. I loved the beginning where he talks about fishing and explains the 'purple fish.' When he visited his friend Burt and sang "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" was amazing. It made him smile and remember that he walks with Jesus in everything he does. I also liked when he talked about switching the word wretch in "Amazing Grace" because he didn't see himself in that way.

This book was ALL goodness. Every single word, phrase, and sentence was a gem. He talks about unconditional love and prayer and what it really means to worship. We worship with our hearts. This is an audiobook I know I'll listen to again. I loved the stories MARK O. WILSON shared. One message, "Be You." Be who you are. And be unconditional and don't judge.

CLATON BUTCHER. He was Fantastic reading this audiobook. His narration was positive and upbeat with perfect inflections. He made this an especially great listen. You could hear the feeling the author has in his words. Claton Butcher messaged his words spot on with heart and soul. What I'm left with is WOW!!

Great book and narration

What did you love best about Purple Fish: A Heart for Sharing Jesus?

I really enjoyed the stories used to help make the concepts easy to relate to and understand.

Which scene was your favorite?

The story of the man in hospice; how he showed no signs of acknowledging their visit. Yet, his family saw a change in his life. A great reminder that we may not see the change in people's hearts and that's ok; we need to share Jesus.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I really enjoyed this book. The book was captivating and the narrator was really easy to listen to. I listened while traveling; it was like having an old friend talking to me. I will listen to more from this narrator.

Any additional comments?
