Husband Dominates and Treats Wife like a Slave 😳

I’ve never read anything from this author. It was good. I kept waiting for husband to get nicer and less of an alpha savage.

If you are looking at Pure Evil by Stella Andrews based on certain common trigger warnings and tropes, you might be walking in with the wrong expectations.

Many readers are advised that the book features extreme control, manipulation, and a hero who treats the heroine like a blank canvas to mold and control into his ideal wife. While it is true that this is what the MMC thinks his plan is, it is not actually how the dynamic plays out in practice.

Similarly, potential readers are often warned about extreme power imbalances involving heavy "alpha-hole" behavior, intense dominance, verbal degradation, and forced obedience. Fortunately, none of that is entirely accurate. While the MMC certainly fits the "alpha-hole" and dominant mold, the story notably lacks actual forced obedience or verbal degradation.

If you enjoy dark mafia romance, age gaps, and a 4 out of 5 spice rating without the extreme toxicity some warnings imply, this The Dark Lords opening installment is worth checking out for a nuanced take on the trope.

I TRIED BUT IN THE END IT WAS A DISAPPOINTING DNF

This was preordered and I was so looking forward to its dark hours.. however (and unfortunately), for me, it didn’t deliver on any of the things I was hoping for. I usually love a dark alpha anti-hero but Killian was just cruel, controlling, brutish and nasty. And Purity, the sheltered, native, virginal, perfect angel/pawn who’d signed on the dotted line agreeing to a loveless marriage so she could “see the world”.. unaware of Killian’s true nature, was off too. Bottom line - I didn’t feel any chemistry or romance between them at all, the many sex scenes came across as cold and emotionless and I’m not sure I liked the fit of the male narrator for Killian’s character either..

Worth a credit? For me it’s a no.. it didn’t make me swoon or sigh.. however, these are just my thoughts you may love it.
