the real deal
The author has the stuff. He actually has a knack for coming up with nice, tight little plots. Other fiction writers often lollygag, looking for a lead, and then, in effect, writing a story about how they couldn't come up a with a story. This guy just comes intuits the plots and gets right to work. There's no subterfuge, no gimmick, just old-school story-telling. The narrator is great, too. Great mimic, great sound effects.
