In today's episode, I and special guest Rick O'Bannon when into a discussion on psychedelics and how they can be used as a therapeutic modality for individuals dealing with a wide variety of mental health issues. Special guest Rick gets into his main passions for the field of behavioral health and as a strong advocate for psychedelic-assisted therapy. We also go over different types of biases and stigmas our society has for the use of psychedelics as a healing tool. The topic of Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) is an organization founded in 1986 dedicated to the study of psychedelics to be used as a form of mental health therapy. The special guest Rick explains the process and motivation of how he founded the “Adlerian Psychedelic Society” and what he hopes himself and others get out of it as a community.
