Acerca de esta escucha
Reading the Bible can be intimidating, but it doesn't have to be. God is a genius, and he left us a key for practical, life-changing Bible study. If you try to open your Bible to the exact center, there’s a good chance you’ll land on it. Psalm 119 is a masterwork of literature. It’s the longest chapter of the Bible, strategically placed as if to say, “Don’t miss this”! It’s the place in scripture that talks the most about scripture. The psalmist teaches his students what to search for when they read and what they can expect if they practice what they’ve learned. Like a key to a treasure chest, applying the principles in Psalm 119 to the rest of the Bible unlocks the riches God has hidden on every page.
Whether you’re reading the Bible for the first time or simply long for deeper understanding when you read, this verse-by-verse study of Psalm 119 is a practical, valuable resource for drawing close to God by engaging with his word. Jesus is the word made flesh, and every time you open the Bible is an opportunity to sit at his feet and learn from the master. Are you ready to unlock a lifetime of encounter?

The singular blending of testimony, prayer, and praise in Psalm 119 is admirable. In one verse, the psalmist bears witness; in a second verse, he praises; in a third verse, he prays. It is an incense made up of many spices, but they are wonderfully mixed and worked together to form one perfect sweetness. The blending greatly increases the value of the whole. This wonderful psalm, from its great length, helps us to marvel at the immensity of Scripture.

Escape the enemy's deadly trap! The Bait of Satan exposes one of the most deceptive snares Satan uses to get believers out of the will of God - offense. Most people who are ensnared by the bait of Satan don’t even realize it. Don’t be fooled! You will encounter offense, and it’s up to you how it will affect your relationship with God. Your response will determine your future. If offense is handled correctly, you will become stronger rather than bitter. John Bevere shows you how to stay free from offense and escape the victim mentality.

It turns out giving up your "right" to be offended can be one of the most freeing, healthy, simplifying, relaxing, refreshing, stress-relieving, encouraging things you can do. It's a radical, provocative idea: We're not entitled to get offended or stay angry. The idea of our own "righteous anger" is a myth. It is the number one problem in our societies today and, as Dallas Willard says, Christians have not been taught out of it. But what if Christians were the most unoffendable people on the planet?

The Christian life is a process of growing in holiness, our natural response to the good news of our redemption in Christ. This kind of growth is gradual, and obstacles are plentiful. Thankfully, we don't have to go it alone. God has given us his Spirit so that we can overcome temptation and become more and more conformed to the image of Christ. But how does the Spirit work? What is the nature of our own personal involvement in the process? And how do we know if we are making progress?

Every person on the planet was born for significance, created by God to make a difference in his kingdom. Fulfilling God’s purpose is a lifelong endeavor, but it comes with a cost. God is a perfect father who looks for chances to pour blessings into the lives of his children. But he is also a father who loves us and doesn’t want to increase our blessing beyond what we have the heart and maturity to carry well. What does it look like when significance is carried well? God is glorified, we are strengthened, and the people around us benefit.

Paul's letter to the people at Philippi serves as a reminder that if we search for joy in possessions, places, or people, we will always come up short. True, lasting joy comes only through faith in Jesus Christ, living in harmony with his followers, and serving others in the name of Christ. The life lived by the Philippians is still attainable today. In her comprehensive approach, Joyce Meyer takes a deep dive into well-known and beloved verses, identifying key truths and incorporating room for personal reflection.

Paul's letter to the church at Galatia speaks largely to how important it was to Paul that the people embrace unity in Christ, no matter their differences. Galatians teaches that we're only justified by faith in Christ and encourages us to pursue a life of holiness, not in our own strength, but in the knowledge of God's empowering grace in our lives.

Our fast pace of life, coupled with constant demands to do more, get more, and be more, makes being still and living more deliberately in his presence seem unattainable. Pause for a moment and ask yourself what your life would be like if it were completely without fear? If you did not fear death. If you did not fear life and what it might bring. If you did not fear any man, or woman, or any living creature. Would you live differently? In this unique work of never-before-published teaching, Dallas Willard revolutionizes our understanding of Psalm 23 by taking this comfortably familiar passage and revealing its extraordinary promises: "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.... I will fear no evil."

Disappointed
I thought this was about Psalm 119. I don’t have any more insight into the passage than I would from a casual reading of any English translation of the Psalm. Author takes his NT theology and overlays it over the Psalm. Was this passage waiting 3,000 years for his insight?
