Publisher's Summary

Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg have teamed up for a dynamic new series featuring an FBI agent who’s on the hunt - and a master con artist who’s enjoying the chase. The con is on in this audiobook short story that’s a triumphant prequel to The Heist.

FBI special agent Kate O’Hare has made it her mission to nail international con artist Nicolas Fox. When she discovers his plot to plunder a venture capitalist’s 20th-story Chicago penthouse of all its cash and treasures while the self-proclaimed "King of Hostile Takeovers" is getting married, Kate is 85 percent - okay maybe 92 percent - sure that she’s finally going to bag Nick Fox.

Problem is, first Kate has to convince her boss, building security, and maybe even herself, that wedding planner Merrill Stubing is actually Nicolas Fox. Second, she has to figure out how to corner and capture him without disrupting the event of the year. And third, what’s going to happen once O’Hare finally gets her hands on Fox? It’s going take a pro to catch a con before the fireworks over Lake Michigan go off.

Good Read - But not as good as Janet's other books

I love Scott Bricks voice. I go through all the samples just to hear him speak! lol Yes .. I am weird and a tad bit crazy - and these are the exact kind of books I like to read too! Pros and Cons - a Short Story was exactly that. A Short Story - so why all the sad faces and lesser than decent reviews kids? Anyway, this was a fun-ny story. Yes .. we all need to now go buy "The Heist'. But you can't blame anyone for smart marketing. Scott Brick made this listen all that much more awesome.

Wonderful short story

I love the Fox and O'Hare series! Having Scott Brick read the books is frosting on the cake. I hope I'm not giving away too much by writing that Nick Fox gets away from FBI agent Kate O'Hare again. The question is, how did he do it this time?

Funny and Fun

Any additional comments?

this is a short story involving Kate and Nicholas before they began to "work" together. Kate thinks she is really going to catch him this time. The scene is a penthouse "over the top" wedding. There are valuable treasures at the penthouse and a large number of guests. Nicholas wants to pull off a big haul in this difficult setting.

The story is not essential to the Kate O'Hare and Nicholas Fox series and could serve as a stand alone. It is funny and intriguing. Also the narration is excellent.

A past con with Kate as agent on the hunt

This short story one is good enough. It brings readers back to one of the cons referenced in the first book, to tell the full story. The long books are much better!

I am loving this new series. The problem is that now that I've had a taste, I'm concerned the authors can't write new books fast enough to satisfy my appetite. Chemistry, intelligence, and fun, I want more!

Great little spoonful of this series' expectations

Nice little short including the cat and mouse game of the Fox and O'Hare books. But just who is the cat and who is the mouse? Get into this series and find out for yourself ;-)

Perfect

Loved it ‼

Great plot, curious charachters, and a gut feeling you keep until the end. I smiled many times when I was reading this.

It's a short story ‼
These are great for breaks between heavy reads, or life. *giggle

What Fun!

Too short! But then it's a short story
I just finished reading the Heist and not quite ready to leave O'Hare and Fox. Yes, I think I'll come back for more on audio. Especially loved Scott Brick's narration

While Waiting for Book 3

I read this while waiting for book 3. It is a VERY short story, and just gives you a little taste of what Kate used to deal with regarding Nick back in the day. If I hadn't read the other 2 in the Fox & O'Hare series I wouldn't have enjoyed this as much. I don't usually like narrators like Scott Brick, but I find myself enjoying his dry deep vocal tones narration of this book. Unrealistic outlaw gone good story. I love to hate Nick's targets, and Nick's ability to cover all bases during a con. Well done! *applause*.

Nice fun mini-romp.

Obviously don't read this if you've not read any others in the series although you only need to have read The Heist. This is a fun little ficlet that might make you smile.

I personally really dislike Scott Brick's narration. Usually I listen to fics at 1x or 1.05x (basically normal speed). I found this sounds normal only at 1.35x. Why Brick reads like he is paid by the minute I don't know. Maybe he is, it would explain a lot.
