Prophecies and Promises

The Book of Mormon and the United States of America

De: Bruce Porter, Rod L. Meldrum

Narrado por: Virtual Voice

This book is having an effect on the resurgence of Book of Mormon geographic and historicity interest; study and excitement akin to what the Dead Sea Scrolls discovery did for spurring Biblical energies...

Reading Prophecies and Promises is like having your eyes opened wide for the first time. It is mind expanding and faith promoting. The most common response from readers is, "This book makes so much sense, why haven't I heard of this before?" One reader called to say: "I've been studying this topic all my life and this book has rendered my entire library obsolete! Now I have lots of shelf-space for more from these authors when can I expect their next book?"

A reviewer wrote: "The implications from this research are huge and exciting, something to be embraced by 'those who have eyes to see'. This is an incredibly important work that provides further testament to the divinity and truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. Bravo, Dr. Porter and Rod Meldrum! I look forward to more of your research."

The authors speak with steady, authoritative testimony regarding the truthfulness of the "Prophecies and Promises" found in the Book of Mormon and provide a second witness to the wisdom and majesty of God's Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith Jr. whose testimony stands firm on every count -- including the prophetically consistent geographical setting for the Book of Mormon.

Love the book; can barely tolerate the voice

I enjoy the work of both authors and have often watched their videos and read their writings. Regardless of one's perspective, I find it valuable to listen to a variety of inputs from informed people, and both of these men are smarter than I'll ever be. The tone of the book definitely leans more textbook than conversational. About halfway in, the mispronunciations became so grating that I looked up the book to see who was reading it. Virtual Voice.\
My two druthers are: 1) That authors never use Virtual Voice, especially if they have good voices themselves. They don't have to pay someone to read it; just read it yourself. With few exceptions, more people will listen to their books. 2) Include a PDF with the scripture references listed instead of having the "narrator" read so many numbers. It's worse than the genealogy chapters of the Bible =)
Overall, a good informative listen. Those changes would just make it more enjoyable as well.
