Publisher's summary

Brice

Life hasn’t always been easy for Brice. With his own mother abandoning him when he was a teenager and his father having a dangerous job, life has been lonely. That is, until his father decides he needs a bodyguard he doesn’t want. So why does he find himself noticing how attractive the broody bodyguard is? And why does he want him to stay, after all?

Carter

Staying out of sight is Carter’s specialty. It’s something he learned while in the military and something he put into play while being on the run. Staying in one spot for too long isn’t something that sets well with the surly man. Initially, keeping an eye on the young man isn’t exactly what Carter wants to do, but now something isn’t letting him leave.

Personalities clash and tempers rise with these two men, making every day they’re together more challenging than the last. As the days pass, more secrets are revealed as their feelings for each other grow stronger. But when one man’s past comes back to haunt him, each man will stop at nothing to protect the other.

Promise to Shield is the second book of the Personal Protectors series. It is intended for a mature audience with adult situations and language. Promise to Shield also mentions cutting and past abuse.

Good!

Brittany Cournoyer may be a fairly new writer in the mm world but I predict great things for her in the future if she continues to write the way she did with this novel! It had great action, an interesting plot and was an overall great read. Kenneth Obi continues to hone his craft and did a nice job bringing this book to life.

Fun Read

If you like action/adventure with your romance, then you will enjoy “Promise to Shield”. Carter was a bit over the top alpha for my taste, but the story was interesting.
Kenneth Obi’s narration is very good. He gives each character their own voice and brings the story to life with his expressive style.

great read

Promise to Shield is the second book in Brittany Cournoyer's Personal Protectors series. Brice and Carter are steamy together. The story is highly entertaining with action, funny moments, sweet moments, hot times and some angst. The two main characters clash and then come together with passion... and the supporting cast of characters are intriguing as well. Definitely makes me want more from this series.

Kenneth Obi narrates this story and does a fantastic job bringing the story and characters to life. Loved it.

A riveting story with an awesome voice

Once again Kenneth Obi did a great job! Brittany Cournoyer series is a perfect mix of action, strong alpha males and feels you can't help but envy. A perfect combination with that voice :)

Dance With Me

Carter is hired by Larry to guard his son Brice since Larry has a dangerous job and fears someone might retaliate against him using his son. During the course of his job a problem from Carter's past finds him and puts everyone in danger. Overall I enjoyed this audiobook, I liked the characters and the story. I think that sometimes Brice came across a little younger than his 24 years but that may have just been the snark talking. I think Brice and Carter had good chemistry and I liked the side characters. I especially liked Kenneth Obi's depiction of the characters and that truly enhanced the story. Recommended.

I won a copy of this audiobook but this is my honest review.

This is Carters story, and I was looking forward to it, I enjoyed it. The narrative is good. I felt though it was missing something, but I would recommend the series and looking forward to see where it goes next.

I loved it

This was book 2 in the "Personal Protectors" series. I loved this book. Brice Armstrong is the son of Larry the undercover FBI agent from the first book his mother left him and his father works a lot when his father gets him a bodyguard they don't hit it off. Carter has been running a lot never staying in one place for too long so when Larry offers him a job he takes it. Brice and Carter don't get along Carter finds him annoying but he knows that Brice is lonely and he sees that his father is not there for him. When these two hook up its hard and fast and explosive. I liked both of these characters a lot Carter takes his job seriously and when one of Bruce's co-workers starts hitting on him making him uncomfortable he deals with it turns out Walt was just a plant. When Brice falls and hurts his ankle after they have sex the first time Carter gets mad because he didn't tell him. When Carter's past catches up with him he hides out with Brice with the help of Rusty the bar owner from the first book and Beckett's uncle. When Brice and his friend Elliot are kidnapped by the man who is hunting Carter he finds out who his friends are and with the help of Beckett and Rusty they get Brice and Elliot back but they are hurt bad. I loved that they stop kidding themselves and fell in love. This book also had a surprise turns off the older man that Elliot talked about was Larry and Brice didn't take it so well. This was a good book that I loved I read and listened to this book. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series. Larry and Elliot
