really good sci fi story

This is the second book on the series but it was the first one I started with, I do not feel that I missed part of the story, because the author went back and explained all that was needed for the story to make sense. My experience with the audiobook was really good, the book was read by the author, and at first I thought it was slow, but quickly it worked just fine, it was more of growing more used to it, quickly enough I was so engrossed in the story that I would get my phones and listen to the audiobook every time I could, haha with two small children, sometimes that by itself is an achievement.

Without spoilers, mankind leave earth, and go to another planet, the journey there is full of danger and even things that were not considered a danger in the travel to the planet become dangerous… 1600 years later humans come by earth to see if earth is in conditions of being their home again, and like when Columbus went to America, even if not everyone agree, if the one that sent us there want to colonize, the soldier does what he is told to do… the worst of mankind is man itself… this is a great hard sci-fi story, and we get to love many of the characters and hate with passion others, yes PM I am talking about you…

The book ends with a cliffhanger, and I ended this book in such a high note that I really want to read/listen what comes next, even what came before, this author “writes” in a way that It really feels like someone is telling the story to you and you get to dread what will happen to the characters next.

I really recommend this book for fans of sci-fi, even if travel through space is not your thing, give it a try, it is nicely written, and you will feel that is possible that things will go this way in the future.

Imaginative Far Future Story

This is an intriguing, unique and interesting distant future science fiction story. The author's world building created an amaziing environment in which this story takes place. The plot was well-developed and the interactions and motivations of the characters were understandable and relatable. It was easy to identify with the characters and to become invested in them. I enjoyed this thought-provoking story. I was provided a free review copy of this audiobook and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.

Looking forward to the next book

I chose to listen to this book after receiving a free audio copy from the author. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.

Progeny’s Descendants starts with humans who left Earth to go to their new planet, Horizon, after they depleted the resources that support life on Earth. It took 300 years to get to the planet, but they didn’t make the same mistakes that they’d made on Earth, and the planet remained clean.

Even though Horizon was a good fit, the goal of the people was always to return to Earth. After 1300 years of research, they learned how to travel light years quickly, so they were ready to return to Earth if it had recovered from their mistreatment.

I had read Progeny, so I knew that there were robots on Earth who didn’t remember that they were created by humans. When humans return to reclaim what they believe is theirs, I was skeptical about how things would turn out knowing how humans feel entitled. The story ended on a cliffhanger so I’m not sure how things will work out yet, but I’m looking forward to finding out in the next book in the series.

I like the author’s writing style, and the characters are well developed. I especially liked the main characters, the commander and Helen.

The author narrates Progeny’s Descendants. At first, I cringed when I saw that because the last book I listened to that the author narrated was a nightmare. Ray Jay Perreault did a good job though.

If you like science fiction, I recommend this book.
