Publisher's summary

The world's most exclusive detective agency opens a new office - in Australia!

With the best detectives in the business, cutting-edge technology, and offices around the globe, there is no investigation company quite like Private. Now, at a glittering launch party overlooking the iconic Opera House, Private Sydney throws open its doors.

Craig Gisto and his newly formed team have barely raised their glasses, however, when a young Asian man, blood-soaked and bullet-ridden, staggers into the party, and what looks like a botched kidnapping turns out to be a whole lot more.

Within days the agency's caseload is full. But it is a horrific murder in the wealthy Eastern Suburbs and the desperate search for a motive that stretches the team to the limit. Stacy Friel, friend of the Deputy Commissioner of NSW Police, isn't the killer's first victim - and as the bodies mount up she's clearly not the last.

Disappointed in Down Under

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I have read Private London and Berlin before this. Down Under was more of the same except I found the plot too predictable. The level of violence is unnecessary gore.
I did enjoy the narrator and the Australian accent gave the story authenticity IMO.

Private Sydney to the rescue

This book I really enjoyed for some strange reason, but it was interesting. I think because I was not expecting the killer to be who it was. I like these series, because so far in each book, part of the story is being told by the killer, which is a very different view point from most of the mystery novels I have read. So far these books jump from the main character’s view point to the killer’s view point, and they let the killer tell their story so you know the history of them and how they became the way they are in the present time and committing the crimes that they are committing. That makes these books more interesting. Not only did this book have murders and suspense, but it also had family issues. In this story both the bad and the good guy had a history which affected who they are in the present.

Not as good as the others

as I make my way through the entire Private series, this book was not as good as the others. It did not catch my attention as much.

Not Bad At All

Patterson book have been a guilty pleasure for a while for me, and I really like the "Private" series. This one measures up really well with the rest of the books. Good story, likeable characters. I enjoyed this book.

Entertaining

Unlike others who have reviewed this book I found the Aussie accent very easy to listen to and I did think the narrator did an excellent job of performing — he acted different accents and gave inflection and emphasis to make the story interesting. He did just that he performed this book and not just read it.

The story is the typical James Patterson three plots going simultaneously. So in that respect we knew what was coming but on the other hand it was refreshing to get a different perspective from another country and another team. I enjoyed this book I will continue to finish the Private series.

Another great book in the Private Series

What did you love best about Private Down Under?

I loved that they brought Justine in from the original Private.

What did you like best about this story?

I pretty much liked everything about this book. I like the character development. It makes me feel more for the characters and what they are going through in the book. This keeps me listening because I want to find out what happens next.

Have you listened to any of Tim Wright’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This was the first time I have heard Tim Wright read an audiobook, but I liked his performance. I would listen to other books that he reads.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I can't say that I had an "extreme" reaction to the book. I did not cry, but I did laugh a few times.

Great accent on narration, interesting cases

The "down under" narration was enjoyable and different. I thought the three cases were interesting. Some of the characters just dropped off, but didn't spoil the book.
